Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov cleared waivers on Monday and will report to the Toronto Marlies in the AHL. Samsonov was placed on waivers after he had another miserable outing in Friday's 6-5 overtime loss to Columbus, with six goals allowed on 21 shots. Playing in his second year in Toronto, Samsonov has managed a lowly .862 save percentage overall and sits on a 5-2-6 record with a 3.94 goals-against average. Samsonov isn't expected to play in the minors. He will work on his game with the goalie coach and the supporting staff, and the team is expected to re-evaluate him when the Maple Leafs return from their West Coast road trip, which begins on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Dennis Hildeby was called up from the AHL on Monday to replace Samsonov on the roster.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
