New Jersey Devils goaltender Akira Schmid made eight saves in a relief appearance in Tuesday's 5-4 comeback victory against the Islanders. Schmid stepped into the crease in the second period to replace starting goaltender Vitek Vanecek after he allowed four goals on 18 shots. Schmid was not tested in the third period as he only had to make six saves in the frame in order to pick up his second win of the season. Schmid has posted a record of 2-4-1 to go along with a 3.02 goals against average and .896 save percentage through eight appearances, and the 23-year-old is projected to get the start in Thursday's game against the Flyers. --Denis Vondrus - RotoBaller
