New Jersey Devils center Nico Hischier returned to practice on Monday for the first time since suffering an upper-body injury on Oct. 27 in a game against the Buffalo Sabres. Hischier took a hit to the head from Sabres defenseman Connor Clifton who was subsequently handed a two-game suspension. The Swiss center has since missed the last nine games. "We hope to see him again at practice tomorrow but I don't really have a timeline... we'll see how practice goes," Devils head coach Lindy Ruff said. It was a slow start to the season for Hischier who set career-highs with 31 goals and 80 points last season. He notched two goals for his lone points through seven games while his 16:50 of average ice time is well below his 19:17 mark from a season ago.--Brenton Kemp
