NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/16/23

We have finally made it! The 2023-2024 season is upon us and we welcome the next generational talent, Connor Bedard to the front and center! With many big moves over the offseason – Karlsson to Pittsburgh – and many signings during Free Agency, this season will make for yet another interesting race to Lord Stanley!

Tonight we have a 8-game slate and two teams playing on a  back-to-back: Islanders & Columbus. The currently live top-3 highest implied team totals are: Vegas with 3.9, Tampa Bay with 3.8 and St. Louis with 3.8. I will do my best to guide you through this eight-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

DISCLOSURE: Make sure to monitor the NHL news feeds for the latest player status and injury news.

DraftKings and FanDuel Goalies - NHL DFS Picks

Sergei Bobrovsky - DK $7.3K || FD $8.3K

Opponent - Los Angeles Kings

Tonight’s slate is not meant for goalies and it is safer to pay down and hope for saves than to pay up and potentially lose all value thanks to a few duds. Currently, Anthony Stolarz is the expected starter for the Panthers tonight, however, it is firmly believed that Sergei Bobrovsky will be entertaining the starter’s crease. The latter has not played since his 4-3 win at home against Chicago on Sunday where he recorded his third game with a 0.900 Save Percentage or worst in his last five games. It does seem that Paul Maurice and staff want to start giving Bob bigger rests than what he would normally receive, in hopes of a strong performance when he does start. On the other end of the rink are the Kings who are playing slightly above their Expected Goals For Per 60 both on the season and in their last ten games. Will this be a night where vintage Bobrovsky shows up or do the Kings keep rolling, despite making lineup adjustments?

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP):

  • Jarry (DK $8.2K || FD $7.9K)
  • Montembeault (DK $6.9K || FD $7.3K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NHL DFS Picks

Brayden Schenn - DK $4.8K || FD $5.4K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Are the Sharks playing tonight? Yes. Who is their opposition? Blues. Okay, let’s stack the Blues. Brayden Schenn is rearing into early season form with 5 goals, 4 assists, 14 shots and 5 blocked shots in his last five games. He also happens to have one of the better line matchups tonight. He will see the second line of San Jose for the bulk of the game and they are currently conceding a cumulative 104 Scoring Chances Per 60 minutes and 53 High Danger Chances Per 60. Furthermore, as aforementioned in almost every article when San Jose plays, they are the worst team by a few miles in every meaningful metric. The Blues are coming off their best performance of the season – a 5-0 win over Tampa Bay – and now get their best matchup of the season.

Brock Nelson - DK $6.2K || FD $7.4K

Opponent - Seattle Kraken

It is not always ideal to stack a team playing on the second half of a back-to-back, however, this is a special circumstance for the Islanders. Not only are they playing on a back-to-back, but so are the Kraken. Both teams are also coming off tough losses, however, the Kraken proved how poor their defense and goaltending truly are, after being up 3-1 heading into the third period. The hosts are conceding approx 2.56 Goals Against Per 60 over both the season and their last ten games and it also matches what they are expecting to concede in the same time frames. Turning the page to Brock Nelson, over his last five games, he has 2 goals and 19 shots. He and the Islanders are underperforming by a full goal both over the season and their last ten games. This is the perfect spot for a big game against the Kraken who have conceded three or more goals in their last six games.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Crosby (DK $8.2K || FD $9.6K)
  • Beniers (DK $4.6K || FD $4.4K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Wings - NHL DFS Picks

Jordan Kyrou - DK $6.2K || FD $6K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

Heading back to San Jose, Jordan Kyrou makes his debut in the article after he was mentioned Tuesday in his linemate, Brandon Saad’s feature. The winger has 3 goals, 3 assists, 23 shots and 2 blocked shots over his last five appearances. He is also coming off one of his best performances of the season helping the Blues topple the Lightning 5-0. As the main producer for the Blues, Kyrou will keep being relied on and in a premium matchup tonight, it would be shocking if he didn’t score at least once.

Jordan Eberle - DK $3.3K || FD $4.3K

Opponent - New York Islanders

This is not the first time that Jordan Eberle has been priced this low on DraftKings and it will most likely not be the last either. The winger just returned from an injury, however, he has picked up right where he left off at. In his return to the lineup, he had 1 assist and 2 shots and over his last five games, he has 2 assists, 13 shots and 1 blocked shot. All it takes for Eberle to make value tonight are a few shots and a lucky bounce. Over both the season and the last ten, the Kraken are underperforming on offense and the Islanders are overperforming by a big stretch defensively. With just one goal on the season, this is the perfect opportunity for Eberle to add to his low total.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Kucherov (DK $8.8K || FD $10.3K)
  • Zary (DK $3.6K || FD $K)

DraftKings and FanDuel Defensemen - NHL DFS Picks

Luke Hughes - DK $4.1K || FD $4.8K

Opponent - Pittsburgh Penguins

Tonight is the perfect spot for Hughes to meet value from strictly peripherals. The Penguins are firing on all cylinders at home after early season mishaps and Hughes has been promoted to the top pairing due to his stellar play. Over his last five appearances, he has 1 assist, 5 shots and 2 blocked shots. The defender may also get a boost in value with the return of his brother Jack Hughes. Playing on the top pairing, quarterbacking the top power-play and playing in a fast-paced matchup, sets up the defender for a potentially big night.

Alex Vlasic - DK $3.4K || FD $3.9K

Opponent - Tampa Bay Lightning

As a speculative peripheral play, Vlasic gets another matchup with the Tampa Bay Lightning, a matchup that he and the Blackhawks won 5-3 at Tampa Bay. In that matchup, Vlasic had 1 shot and 3 blocked shots and in his last five games, he has 1 assist, 8 shots and 13 blocked shots. In a home matchup with the Lightning and a revenge narrative, Vlasic may have his hands full tonight.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP):

  • Forsling (DK $4.2K || FD $4.6K)
  • Perunovich (DK $2.8K || FD $3.5K)
