San Jose Sharks defenseman Shakir Mukhamadullin is likely to begin the season with the San Jose Barracuda, as per head coach David Quinn. Quinn noted he would like to see the 2020 first-rounder play with more confidence while playing bigger minutes with the club's farm team. Acquired last season in the trade that sent 40-goal scorer Timo Meier to the New Jersey Devils, Mukhamadullin notched six goals and 25 points with Ufa Salavat Yulayev of the KHL in his native Russia before coming overseas to tally one goal and 10 points across 12 games with the Barracuda. The 21-year-old could very well see a role with the Sharks sooner than later considering his professional seasoning in the KHL, the second-best professional hockey league in the world.--Brenton Kemp
