Jake Bean Doubtful For Start Of Season

Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Jake Bean (groin) is battling an injury, and the team considers him as week-to-week. The Blue Jackets revealed a number of injuries ahead of training camp, and Bean's problem is slated to be the most serious one. According to The Athletic's Aaron Portzline, the 25-year-old suffered an abductor strain in a workout. It's another blow for Bean, who has been troubled by various health issues throughout his NHL career. He was forced to undergo shoulder surgery last season and played only 14 games. With Bean being listed as week-to-week, it's unclear if he can recover in time for Columbus' season opener, which comes on Oct. 12 versus Philadelphia.
