Week 2 NFL DFS Cheat Sheet: Expert Picks and Lineups (Premium Content)

All other Premium Tools can be accessed on the premium dashboard.

Welcome to Week 2 of the NFL Season! Each week, I'll be bringing you our famous NFL DFS Cheat Sheet with expert research and picks for cash games and GPPs. Here are a few notes about the sheet.

  • I will be using data from 2022 for the first 3-4 weeks of the season until we get a big enough sample to use for 2023.
  • Green means GO (good for the player) while red reflects a poor rating/matchup. The more green, the better...
  • In fact, CASH CORE pieces are highlighted with BRIGHT GREEN highlighter on the chart for extra emphasis.
  • The "fantasy points allowed rank" reflects how a player's opponent ranked in fantasy points allowed to their specific position. The lower the number, the better the matchup.
  • Passing and Rushing game matchups no longer use the DVOA statistic, instead, we are looking strictly at yards created and allowed per game by offenses and defenses.
  • A play labeled "cash" is a higher-owned play that is recommended for cash games. A "strong" play is playable in all formats. "Slate-breakers" are some of my favorite GPP targets for upside or reduced ownership.
  • Vegas and risk columns will all be updated during the week to reflect injury info, weather info, and the most recent Vegas info.

Deeper GPP Flyers

This is where I want to give you some other players who will be in my player pool, who didn't make the cut for the cheat sheet. The main recommended plays are always going to be geared more toward cash games and single-entry tournaments, but here are some lower-owned options for large-field tournaments.

WR: Ja'Marr Chase, Deebo Samuel, Michael Pittman Jr., Mike Evans, Zay Jones, Josh Downs

TE: Darren Waller, Tyler Higbee, Zach Ertz, Adam Trautman

DEFENSE (In the order of safest to riskiest): DAL, TB, NYJ, BAL, WAS, DET

Week 2 DFS Slate Notes

Saturday Updates:

It took much longer than I wanted this week to get some of the news we really need - and we still need some more tomorrow morning to really feel good about some stuff. Let's start off with injury situations.

C.J. Stroud is officially questionable, but practiced in full all week until Friday. I am not really playing him, but I love Nico Collins this week and if Stroud would sit then I would probably downgrade the whole Houston offense a bit if Case Keenum played instead.

Austin Ekeler is doubtful, so Joshua Kelley makes for a compelling punt play. However, we saw a chalky backup bust last week against Tennessee when Jamaal Williams didn't do much and Kelley is not a lock for cash games because we have a few other cheap RB options in the mix, too. The real smash play is Keenan Allen, who I have elevated to a CORE PLAY as the Titans are a pass-funnel defense that can't stop the pass and they are missing some starters in the secondary. I am all-in on the Chargers passing offense.

Aaron Jones is still questionable and has yet to practice. That usually means he's probably closer to doubtful, and AJ Dillon would step into a good matchup against Atlanta and get a bunch more touches. I would rather play Dillon in cash formats than Kelley and he'd be especially appealing on DK at 5900. He can catch passes, too, and we saw him and Jones both catch two balls each last week. We also know he is the goal line back, too.

Breece Hall is still questionable and I thought he might be a sneaky GPP play at first, but I think there are more than enough backs to play this week and I will probably just fade the Jets offense entirely.

CEH is questionable for the Chiefs, and if he sits out then Pacheco and McKinnon pick up a few more touches. It's not really enough to move the needle there, I want the Chiefs' passing game for the most part.

DeAndre Hopkins didn't practice all week, which means we could get Treylon Burks as the WR1 and more targets for Chig Okonkwo against a Chargers team that was gashed by Miami last week. Keep an eye on that situation.

Christian Watson finally did practice on Friday for Green Bay. If he plays, I will probably just ignore him and Romeo Doubs both, but either way I am still in on Luke Musgrave as the Falcons have really struggled against TEs last year and in Week 1 (Hurst had a nice game).

Brandin Cooks is looking closer to doubtful, but his injury doesn't move the needle much on the Dallas situation for me. Meanwhile, Puka Nacua practiced Friday and his coach said he is expected to play. We have to consider him this week, even in a tough matchup after what he did in Week one.

The two big tight ends who missed last week (Kelce and Andrews) are officially still questionable, but both are expected to play. I love Kelce in this spot and Andrews makes for a solid GPP pivot as well.

FAVORITE GAME STACKS:

KC-JAX: Mahomes-Kelce-Etienne (also consider Ridley, Jones)

LAC-TEN: Herbert-Allen-Henry (also consider Williams, Burks/Okonkwo)

SEA-DET: Goff-St. Brown-Walker (also consider LaPorta, Montgomery, Metcalf)
