We're back with a three-game slate on Sunday afternoon. Two good games open the day, as the Wings visit the Sun and the Sky visit the Liberty. The third game between the Aces and Fever...well, the Fever look a lot better this year than they did last year, but the Aces are just an unstoppable force right now.
If you're looking for WNBA daily fantasy picks and some betting advice this season, then you're in the right place. I'll be here providing picks for any slate with two or more games, as well as adding a little betting advice as well.
In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel. These lineup picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. WNBA DFS Picks: Forward
Breanna Stewart (New York Liberty) - vs. CHI - DK: $11,700, FD: $9,800
Breanna Stewart is inevitable. The Liberty struggled in the first half of Friday's game against the Sky. Stewie was just 3-for-9 from the field, but she still ended the night with 19 points on 7-for-16 shooting with 11 rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and one steal.
A big question with this Liberty superteam was which players would need to give up a little stat-wise to help the team win. The answer so far: not Stewart. She's already had four double-doubles and has multiple blocks in three straight games. She scores. She boards. She defends. Just a great start to the year for Stewie.
Kalani Brown (Dallas Wings) - @ CON - DK: $6,800, FD: $4,200
Brown's definitely a better value on FanDuel, but I think she's playable on both sites because of the dearth of frontcourt options that the Wings have. Teaira McCowan has gone over to EuroBasket and there's just not much at the five right now for the Wings.
While she struggled last time out, her first game with the Wings this season saw Brown go 4-for-7 from the floor with 12 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. While she only scored three points in her 15 minutes last game, she still pulled down seven boards in that one as well.
Against a team of some size like the Sun have, putting Brown out there to combat Brionna Jones seems like a smart strategy. I'd expect her to be closer to the 27 minutes she played against Minnesota than the 15 she had against Washington.
Alysha Clark (Las Vegas Aces) - @ IND - DK: $5,900, FD: $5,600
Clark has been a key reserve for the Aces, with the team's powerful lineup allowing her a lot of chances to fire away from three. She's made multiple threes in all but one game this year. In that game, she went 1-f0r-5, so it wasn't for a lack of chances.
She's also scored in double figures in the past two Aces games, draining three treys in both contests and finishing with 11 points in each. I don't think Clark's going to explode for some huge showing on a team like this, but she's establishing herself as someone with a fairly high floor.
WNBA DFS Picks: Guard
Jackie Young (Las Vegas Aces) - @ IND - DK: $9,800, FD: $7,700
It's early, but Jackie Young looks like an MVP candidate. She's fourth in the league in points per game at 22.4, plus is tied for second in steals per game. Her field goal percentage of 61.5% is fourth in the league, and she's the only guard in the top seven in that stat. It's just been a great year for Young.
She's scored at least 20 points in all but one game so far and has multiple steals in all but one game as well. She took a season-low 10 field goal attempts last game but also got to the line more than she had all season.
Courtney Vandersloot (New York Liberty) - vs. CHI - DK: $9,100, FD: $7,100
If you were worried that Vandersloot playing beside Sabrina Ionescu would take the ball out of Sloot's hands and kill her astronomically high assist numbers, well...time to shelve that concern because five games in, she's averaging 8.6 assists per game. That is the best mark in the W by 1.6 per game over Chelsea Gray and Alyssa Thomas.
She's been really productive in fantasy because of the assists, which have helped make up for a recent shooting slump. She's 0-for-7 from three over the last two games. But Sloot's a good shooter and this is an offense designed to get open, or at least lightly-guarded, looks for players like Vandersloot, who shouldn't see too much defensive pressure when there's Breanna Stewart for the defense to worry about. She'll find her shot soon, and her high assist floor will then lead to some big DFS nights.
Veronica Burton (Dallas Wings) - @ CON - DK: $6,700, FD: $5,800
The Wings' big three of Arike Ogunbowale, Satou Sabally, and Natasha Howard get most of the attention, but the depth concerns on this team have meant Veronica Burton has played 30-plus minutes in two of the last three games.
She hasn't scored more than nine points in a game yet, but her ability to add other stats has made up for that, as she's averaged 4.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. And she is getting scoring chances, as she's taken nine threes over the last three games—it's just that she's 2-for-9 in that span.
Like Vandersloot above, the open looks Burton gets should fall more consistently than they have been. Her ability to add so many other stats puts her in great shape in fantasy because she's going to produce good numbers when the shots don't fall. She is in a position to win you a night of DFS if she can just go on a hot shooting streak one night.
