Carlos Estevez Records His First Save In Tuesday's Win

Los Angeles Angels right-hander Carlos Estevez finally got his first save opportunity of the season on Tuesday, and he didn't disappoint, shutting the Washington Nationals out over an inning of work to close out the 2-0 victory. He did walk a hitter but worked around it without allowing a hit. The Angels closer situation is a bit murky, as three arms in their 'pen have recorded saves. However, it always seemed like Estevez was the leader of the closer committee, and after posting a 3.47 ERA with a 23% strikeout rate and 1.18 WHIP in 2022, he has the talent to take on that role. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect Estevez to rack up the number of saves as some other bullpen aces, but he should receive the majority of ninth-inning appearances for the Angels.
