Eric Haase To Get More Catching Reps
Eric Haase is expected to see an increased workload behind the plate in 2023. After the Tigers let Tucker Barnhart walk in free agency, it cleared a path for Haase to fill in as the starting catcher. The only catcher on the current roster other than Haase is 27-year-old Jake Rogers, who isn't a perennial major-leaguer. Haase made 84 appearances behind the plate in 2022 and even saw some outfield reps. He slashed .254/.305/.443 with 14 home runs and a .748 OPS. His bat has developed into a legit threat since going pro in 2018, and the Tigers may consider him in the long run if his bat continues to contribute. Haase will mainly be a flier in deep-league formats for 2023.
