The Chiefs are no stranger to deep postseason runs. This Kansas City franchise has now participated in five straight AFC Conference Championship games and is set to make its third Super Bowl appearance since 2019.

How Did The Chiefs Get Here?

Kansas City cruised through the regular season with a 14-3 record. While many thought the AFC West would be one of the NFL's toughest divisions in 2022, the Chiefs had little trouble against divisional foes, finishing a perfect 6-0 in divisional contests.

After securing the AFC's No. 1 seed, Kansas City had the luxury of a first-round playoff bye. The Chiefs hosted the up-and-coming Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional round of the playoffs, defeating the feisty Jags 27-20, despite an injury to their superstar quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, that forced him to miss a portion of the game.

Mahomes displayed some superhero-like healing qualities ahead of the squad's AFC Championship game clash with the Cincinnati Bengals, a rematch of last year's conference title matchup which the Chiefs lost.

Despite what was deemed a high-ankle sprain, the Chiefs' star signal-caller suited up against the Bengals and led the team to a victory in a 23-20 nailbiter. Mahomes tossed for 326 yards and two scores, exiting the game with a passer rating of 105.38.

Why The Chiefs Will Win Super Bowl LVII

Even at less than full strength, Mahomes is a generational talent that is well on his way to being one of the game's all-time greats. Equipped with elite arm talent and savvy – and with Reid's creative playcalling – Mahomes is capable of leading this high-octane offense to victory over anyone in any game environment.

In addition to having the superhuman Mahomes under center, this offense boasts another future HOFer in tight end Travis Kelce. A weapon the likes of which we've never truly seen at his position, Kelce once again led all tight ends in receptions, receiving yards, and TDs in 2022.

After popping up on the Chiefs' injury report prior to the AFC title game with back spasms, Kelce not only suited up against the Bengals but dropped a 7/78/1 stat line in the Conference Championship game, as well as a legendary celebration promo.

Despite career-worst production from Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the KC backfield has been a pleasant surprise. Rookie running back Isiah Pacheco has been an effective threat on the ground, while veteran Jerick McKinnon has stayed healthy enough to post his best production in years.

Though certainly less successful, Kansas City's defense is perhaps just as aggressive as their offense. The Chiefs are an attacking squad that's had success getting to opposing quarterbacks. They finished the regular season ranked second in the NFL in sacks and fourth in QB hits.

The Chiefs and head coach Andy Reid will be appearing in their third Super Bowl since 2019, while Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and starting quarterback Jalen Hurts will both be making their Super Bowl debut. While that experience advantage doesn't guarantee victory, it is an advantage nonetheless for this savvy KC squad.
