Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Treylon Burks returned from a two-game absence in Week 16 to have very limited involvement. He failed to haul in any of his two targets and carried the ball once for 15 yards.

The first-round pick has shown flashes at times this season. He has two touchdowns on the year, one through the air and one fumble recovery touchdown.

Burks has not been anywhere near a one-for-one A.J. Brown replacement as some hoped he would be, given that Tennessee traded Brown for the pick that was used to select Burks.

Is Treylon Burks A Flex Option?

Prior to injuring his hamstring in Week 13’s loss to Philadelphia on his 25-yard touchdown reception, Burks had compiled a strong three-game stretch in which he had either a touchdown or 100 yards receiving in all games.

He was hardly involved in Week 16’s return against Houston, but hopes to have more of an impact in Week 17 against Dallas on Thursday night.

While Burks has clear talent, he cannot be trusted in lineups as teams compete for a championship. Rookie quarterback Malik Willis will be under center, and he has failed to throw for over 99 yards in any of his three career starts.

Should I Consider Starting Treylon Burks in Week 17?

Burks should not be started in Week 17 in any format. His ceiling is severely limited with a developing Malik Willis under center, and the Dallas front seven is not going to give Willis much time to get passes out.

The entire Tennessee offense could be unwatchable in Week 17, and nobody aside from Derrick Henry should be in championship lineups. Even Henry should be inserted with caution.

Can I Drop Treylon Burks in Fantasy Football?

In any redraft format, Burks can safely be dropped. He is not startable this week and with this being the end of the fantasy season, he can be swapped out for a startable player.

In keeper leagues, check to see the value of keeping Burks. He is a candidate for being a keeper, as his draft position will likely be higher next season than it was this season. Ensure that you have better keeper candidates before dropping him.

In dynasty leagues, Burks should be held onto in all dynasty formats. He will likely be the top target in the Tennessee offense next season. Ryan Tannehill is under contract through 2024 and will likely return as the starting quarterback barring a blockbuster move from the Titans. With Tannehill under center, Burks has upside that we saw in his Week 11-13 stretch.
