Fantasy Football Injury Reports for Week 5: Russell Wilson, Rashod Bateman, Jonathan Taylor, Jahan Dotson, Brian Robinson

Rashod Bateman - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Fantasy football injury updates and injury reports for RB, WR, TE, QB for Week 5 (2022), as of 10/4, including Russell Wilson, Rashod Bateman, Jonathan Taylor, Jahan Dotson, Brian Robinson.

Many NFL teams and fantasy football managers are dealing with injuries coming out of last week's games. There's a lot to sort through, and we'll be here with you all week long to provide the latest injury updates for many key players.

Today's fantasy football injuries report checks in on several key NFL players as as of October 4th including Russell Wilson, Rashod Bateman, Jonathan Taylor, Jahan Dotson, and Brian Robinson. Being up-to-date on NFL injury news can give you an edge over your league mates in fantasy football.

To keep close tabs on all of the news across the NFL, make sure to favorite or bookmark the fantasy football player news page, or download the free RotoBaller fantasy football mobile app with push notification alerts on all the latest news. Let's look at the updates for some wide receivers and see whether they may play in Week 5.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Russell Wilson Injury Update

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson (shoulder) was a limited participant in the Broncos' walkthrough practice on Tuesday leading up to their Thursday night meeting with the Colts. When meeting with the media, Wilson went on to say that he is "super confident" he will be able to play "with no limitations."

Fantasy managers can treat Wilson as a mid-range QB1 option in Week 5, as the veteran got rolling in Week 4 with his best performance of the season. His status could be worth monitoring given that it is a short week, but as of now, there's no reason to believe he won't be starting for the Broncos on Thursday night.

Dak Prescott Injury Update

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (thumb) currently isn't able to grip the football "well enough to play" with his surgically repaired right thumb, according to owner Jerry Jones on 105.3 The Fan. It means that it's unlikely that Prescott will make his return in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Rams.

The most likely scenario is that the 29-year-old signal-caller will return in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles after he fractured his right thumb in the season opener. Hopefully he'll continue to progress in his recovery this week so that he'll be available to the Cowboys in Week 6. Cooper Rush has gone 3-0 in Prescott's absence, but he'll continue to be nothing more than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues this weekend against a tough Rams defense.

Treylon Burks Injury Update

Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Treylon Burks (toe) could go on Injured Reserve after being diagnosed with turf toe. Burks left the game late against the Indianapolis Colts and did not return. However, Burks isn't expected to miss the season and won't need surgery, so he could have sneaky value later in fantasy football in the playoff stretch.

For now, Robert WoodsNick Westbrook-Ikhine and Kyle Philips should be in line for more targets, as well as tight end Austin Hooper. Tennessee could also look to make a move at the position. With that said, no Titans pass-catchers are sure things. Woods seemingly has the most upside moving forward.

Gus Edwards Injury Update

Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards (knee) will begin practice as soon as he's been designated to return off the NFL's Physically Unable to Perform list. Edwards tore his ACL around the same time J.K. Dobbins did but has yet to return to game action this season.

When Edwards returns, he'll be on the fantasy radar along with Dobbins. All other Ravens RBs will take a hit in value if Edwards is healthy and ready to go. Expect this to be a frustrating and confusing committee backfield upon his return.

Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) has already been ruled out for Week 5 against the New York Jets. However, there's no clear timetable on how long he could be out moving forward. Veteran Teddy Bridgewater will start in his place as long as he's out and is a decent streaming option in one of the league's best passing attacks.

Bridgewater has never been a fantasy superstar, but Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill are elite weapons at wide receiver, so his ceiling is as high as it's ever been. The Jets present a favorable matchup for quarterbacks, so Bridgewater can be started for fantasy managers in a tough spot at QB.

Brian Robinson Injury Update

Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said that rookie running back Brian Robinson (knee) will come off the Non-Football Injury list and the team will start his 21-day clock to return on Wednesday. Robinson was cleared by doctors to practice, and Rivera said it looks "very promising" that the 23-year-old could make his NFL debut in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.

It wouldn't be surprising if the Commanders take it slow with Robinson, but once he is ready to contribute, it will be bad news for both Antonio Gibson and pass-catching back J.D. McKissic. Before being shot in an attempted robbery in D.C. just before the start of the regular season, Robinson was trending towards leading Washington's backfield. If he remains available on your league's waiver wire, scoop him up now and stash him.

Rashod Bateman Injury Update

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that wide receiver Rashod Bateman (foot) was dealing with a foot injury in the second half of the Week 4 loss to the Buffalo Bills, which is why he was not on the field in the fourth quarter. The Ravens are listing Bateman as day-to-day for now, so fantasy managers will need to keep an eye on his practice status throughout the week leading up to a Week 5 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football.

Unless the 22-year-old suffers a setback this week, he should be on track to suit up this week. He played a season-low 44 percent of the snaps on Sunday and caught just three of six targets for 17 yards. With better health in Week 5, fantasy managers will be hoping he can bounce back after scoring touchdowns in each of the first two weeks.

Jahan Dotson Injury Update

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson (hamstring) left his Week 4 game against the Dallas Cowboys early and is expected to miss one to two weeks. A favorable matchup for wide receivers (Tennessee Titans) is ahead for the Commanders in Week 5, so Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel should see more targets.

Logan Thomas and J.D. McKissic could also be in line for more work. In deeper leagues, Cam Sims or Dyami Brown are decent dart throws, but it's tough to know who the third wideout will be for Carson Wentz.

Jonathan Taylor Injury Update

Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich said that the team hopes running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) can play in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football after he suffered a sprained right ankle in the Week 4 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

The Colts initially feared that Taylor suffered a high-ankle sprain, which almost certainly would have sidelined him this week and beyond, but his injury isn't as serious as initially believed and there's still a chance he could play on Thursday despite being listed as a DNP on Monday's estimated practice report.

Taylor had over 100 yards rushing and a TD in Week 1, but he's been a disappointment since. He could be in danger of seeing limited snaps if he's active on Thursday against Denver. If he's out or limited, Nyheim HinesDeon Jackson and Phillip Lindsay could form a committee backfield.
