Walker Kessler Goes To The T-Wolves At No. 22 Overall
The Minnesota Timberwolves selected Auburn center Walker Kessler with the 22nd overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft. The team acquired the pick on draft day in a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies where the Grizzlies moved up to No. 19. Kessler is arguably the top shot-blocker in the 2022 draft class. He averaged an astounding 4.6 blocks per game as a sophomore last year while logging just 25.6 minutes per contest. He also racked up 11.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Karl-Anthony Towns will of course hold down the starting center role for the T-Wolves this year. Kessler also has to worry about backup big man Naz Reid clogging up the center minutes, but if Kessler can prove that his shot-blocking prowess translates to the pros, he should most certainly carve out a role in the league at some point.
