2025 Fantasy Football: Week 6 Waiver Wire Adds
Hassan Haskins, RB, Chargers
With both running backs Omarion Hampton (ankle) and Najee Harris (Achilles) on Injured Reserve, Los Angeles Chargers RB Hassan Haskins is the "next man up," writes Daniel Popper of The Athletic. For his career, Haskins has 195 rushing yards with a 3.0 yards-per-carry average.
Behind him, the Bolts have Kimani Vidal and Amar Johnson on the practice squad. Vidal has been elevated from the practice squad for the last two games and had an equal amount of offensive snaps as Haskins on Sunday in the loss to the Washington Commanders. In addition to the team's RB depth being thinned out, the Chargers have also dealt with injuries to key players along their offensive line.
It could be tough sledding on the ground for L.A. moving forward, with Haskins and Vidal potentially splitting the workload down the middle. Both RBs are worth picking up off the waiver wire if you have Hampton or need a bye-week replacement.
Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kenneth Gainwell "looked like a lead back" in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings and "has earned more time," according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
With Steelers RB1 Jaylen Warren (knee) missing the team's final game before their bye week, Gainwell logged 134 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns on 25 total touches. Per Fowler, the Steelers are "hoping there are plenty of carries for both" running backs going forward.
When Warren is healthy, Gainwell's role will likely be somewhat limited. Still, Gainwell should be a priority waiver wire addition heading into a Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
Kimani Vidal, RB Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers running backs Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins are now in line for the bulk of the backfield load with rookie Omarion Hampton (ankle) going on Injured Reserve on Monday, according to Eric Smith of Chargers.com. Najee Harris (Achilles) is also out for the season.
Vidal had 18 rushing yards on four carries in the Week 5 loss to the Washington Commanders, with Haskins carrying the ball five times for 13 yards. The Chargers will most likely call up Amar Johnson to serve as the RB3 for at least the next four games with Hampton sidelined.
Both Vidal and Haskins played 14 offensive snaps on Sunday versus Washington, but it's unclear exactly how the workload will be divvied up between Vidal and Haskins moving forward. Still, both RBs are worth attention on the waiver wire this week, with an increase in volume coming for the next four games.
Christian Watson, WR, Packers
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (knee) was back on the practice field on Monday for the first time since tearing his ACL in the Week 18 regular-season finale in 2024. The Packers opened Watson's 21-day practice window for them to activate him from the Physically Unable to Perform list, but he only went through individual drills in his first practice back.
"Today I felt like I was 100%," Watson said. It's unlikely that Watson will make his 2025 debut in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers, but the team will need to officially activate him within the next three weeks, or he'll be lost for the entire season. The 26-year-old has had trouble staying healthy early in his career, but he provides quarterback Jordan Love with an explosive deep threat when he's healthy.
Expect Green Bay to ease him in once he's activated, but that doesn't mean he's not worth stashing in fantasy leagues in the meantime. The Packers' WR corps will be even more crowded upon Watson's return, with Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, rookie Matthew Golden, Savion Williams, and Malik Heath all vying for targets. Jayden Reed (collarbone, foot) is currently on Injured Reserve.
Tory Horton, WR, Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver Tory Horton scored his fourth touchdown of the season in Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Seahawks had to substantially increase their passing volume in a high-scoring game against the Bucs.
Horton benefited from the increased volume with four targets and three receptions for 39 yards and the touchdown. Horton still played just 49% of the snaps, but it was still an uptick in usage from Week 4, when he played just 36% of the snaps. Horton is clearly talented. He is demonstrating a nose for the end zone early in the season with an ability to get lost amongst the defensive backs.
No. 2 wide receiver Cooper Kupp is still doing a solid job getting open and making tough catches, so his role will not disintegrate. However, if Horton continues playing like this, the Seahawks will not be able to keep him off the field. For now, Horton is worth a spot on your bench.
Mason Taylor, TE, Jets
New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor has quickly become a main part of the team's passing game, and the rookie tight end is worth a look in almost all fantasy formats due to the volume he has been getting. The second-round pick out of LSU has been the team's top pass-catching tight end all season, but he had just two catches on three targets in his first two games.
Since then, though, he has 18 catches on 25 targets over three weeks for a total of 150 yards. Taylor set career-highs with nine catches on 12 targets for 67 yards against the Cowboys in Week 5, pacing the team in catches and targets as the team tried to scramble back against Dallas.
The 0-5 Jets have had to play from behind a lot this year, and they'll take on the Broncos in the morning game from London in Week 6. Taylor can definitely be a strong TE1 option for as long as he keeps getting so much volume.
Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence completed 18 of 25 passes for 221 yards with one touchdown and two turnovers while rushing 10 times for 54 yards and two scores in Monday night's 31-28 win over Kansas City.
It wasn't all pretty for Lawrence as he threw a pick, lost a fumble, and took three sacks, but he was active with his legs all night and ultimately led his team on a game-winning drive. He connected with star receiver Brian Thomas Jr. on a beautiful deep ball for a 33-yard gain on the final drive.
The 10 rushes tied Lawrence's career high, and Monday night marked the fourth game of his career with two rushing touchdowns. Lawrence has been a bit up and down this season, but should continue to get more comfortable in Liam Coen's offense as the season goes along.
