Jonathon Brooks Injury Update

University of Texas running back Jonathon Brooks (knee) suffered a torn ACL on November 11 in a win over Texas Christian University. Brooks rushed for 1,139 yards and ten touchdowns and caught 22 passes for 212 yards and one score in his lone season as a starter before suffering the knee injury 11 games into the year. However, he still opted to leave Texas early and declare for the 2024 NFL Draft. Dr. Dan Cooper projects that he should be cleared by training camp, a great sign for his draft stock and potential rookie season.

He wasn't able to participate in any pre-draft testing, but that hasn't stopped him from being the No. 1 running back on several draft analysts' big boards. There's no clear leader for the top running back like in past years with Bijan Robinson and Breece Hall, but Brooks is a top contender to be the first RB off the board.

Jordan Travis Injury Update

Former Florida State quarterback and 2024 NFL Draft prospect Jordan Travis (ankle) is expected to be fully cleared sometime soon, according to his agent Deiric Jackson. The 23-year-old suffered a brutal ankle injury on November 18, effectively ending his season and college career. At the time of his injury, the Seminoles were 10-0 and Travis had compiled 2,756 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, two interceptions, 176 rushing yards, and seven rushing touchdowns. He finished fifth in the 2023 Heisman Trophy voting.

The Florida native played in 49 college games (39 starts), so he'll bring experience to the quarterback room. However, he's likely going to be selected on the final day of the 2024 NFL Draft, meaning there's no guarantee he'll ever see playing time at the next level.

Cooper DeJean Injury Update

Former Iowa cornerback Cooper DeJean (leg) sent a letter to all 32 NFL teams last week informing them that he has been cleared to return to all football activities. The 21-year-old, who is viewed as a top cornerback prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft class, suffered a broken fibula last November, so this is good news for his draft stock on Thursday.

DeJean is a two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection and was named a unanimous first-team All-American following his junior season. In his final two years at Iowa, he racked up 116 total tackles, five tackles for loss, seven interceptions, three defensive touchdowns, and 13 passes deflected. As things stand, he is expected to be a late-first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Kool-Aid McKinstry Injury Update

During a medical examination at the 2024 NFL Combine, Former Alabama defensive back Kool-Aid McKinstry (foot) was found to have a Jones fracture in his right foot. He did not participate in on-field work, but he did participate in Alabama's Pro Day before having surgery to repair his injury. According to sources, doctors deemed his recovery from surgery to be on track and as expected. This is good news for the 2023 first-team All-American, and hopefully, it will keep his stock from falling.

Over the last two seasons, McKinstry totaled 67 tackles, 22 passes defended, and one interception for the Crimson Tide. He also racked up over 400 yards as a punt returner. The 21-year-old is expected to be a late-first-round pick later this month.
