MLBSZN Picks for 2023

Tim Anderson more than 159.5 hits - Anderson should be a stalwart in this White Sox lineup as he has been exactly that in recent years. Anderson has eclipsed this number in two of the previous three full seasons, missing it in 2021 due to injury. He collected 167 and 163 hits in 123 games in both 2019 and 2021, respectively. He has been participating in the World Baseball Classic this spring, where he is currently hitting .313, so he should be warmed up once the season starts. Anderson will also be hitting atop the White Sox's lineup, which means plenty of at-bats for him throughout the season.

Rafael Devers less than 97.5 RBI - Devers is a fantastic young player that is certainly capable of producing 98 RBI as he did in 2019 and 2021; however, this year will likely be different for Devers. The lineup the 2023 Red Sox will be trotting out is nothing to write home about. J.D. Martinez is off to the Dodgers, Xander Bogaerts is off to San Diego, and Trevor Story is out indefinitely after undergoing UCL surgery this offseason. Quite frankly, Devers will not have the traffic on the bases that he has had in years past, which makes achieving this number rather difficult. Teams will be able to key in on him in the lineup as he will likely be protected by Christian Arroyo and an aging Justin Turner, neither of whom will strike fear into pitchers in 2023.

Robbie Ray more than 207.5 strikeouts - Robbie Ray is an elite strikeout pitcher that has started 30 or more games in each of the previous three full seasons. He has eclipsed this strikeout total in each of the previous three full seasons as well. The division he plays in will also serve him well in 2023. The AL West has three teams, the Angels, Rangers, and Athletics, that posted K rates of 22% or higher against left-handed pitching in 2022. As long as Ray stays healthy, and he has a track record of doing so, he should be able to eclipse this number in 2023.
