1B/3B Waiver Wire Pickups for Fantasy Baseball - Week 17

Jose Miranda - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

John's fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for 1B and 3B for Week 17 of the 2022 MLB season. Consider adding and streaming these first basemen and third basemen.

Welcome back RotoBallers to Week 17! We are creeping closer and closer to the trading deadline! While you may be focused on wheeling and dealing, you can't forget about the waiver wire. That's why we're back with another edition of our first-and third-base fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups.

For those who are not familiar, each week at RotoBaller, we publish a waiver wire article for each position. This article will look at corner infield options, at both 1B and 3B. You can also read our other articles for middle infield (2B and SS), outfield, starting pitchers, and more.

Let’s keep rolling right along here with some names to consider as fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups for this upcoming week of the MLB and fantasy baseball season – August 1 through August 7.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Josh Rojas, Arizona Diamondbacks

61% Rostered

As I said two weeks ago, Rojas isn’t a star by any means, but in my opinion, he is one of the more underrated players in the game these days. The 28-year-old continues to be a nice little bright spot for the Diamondbacks.

He’s been scorching hot over the past month or so and continues to shine at the plate. Over his past 30 games, Rojas is hitting a stellar .320 with a .398 OBP, 16 runs scored, 13 RBI, six stolen bases, and a pair of homers.

He’s now quietly up to six home runs, 29 RBI, 11 stolen bases, and a .777 OPS in 68 games this season. The advanced metrics are nothing to write home about, but Rojas is certainly an underrated real-life and fantasy player.

Jose Miranda, Minnesota Twins

56% Rostered

Miranda has finally established himself as a regular in the Twins lineup. We all knew that potential was in there, it was just a matter of time before he settled in at the big league level.

This week, Miranda is hitting a scorching .417 with five RBI and a homer. He recorded three consecutive three-hit games earlier in the week while scoring five runs and lifting his ninth home run of the season.

Miranda is now up to a solid .278/.318/.473 slash line with nine home runs, 13 doubles, and 37 RBI. The youngster is only getting better and better and should see plenty of playing time moving forward.

Get out there and grab him if he’s still available.

Ramon Urias, Baltimore Orioles

47% Rostered

The Baltimore Orioles have been one of the more fun teams in baseball to watch this season. Their rise in the rankings in the American League has been a very pleasant surprise and is great to see.

They’ve been receiving some unexpected contributions from top-to-bottom on both sides of the ball. One of those players who has been stepping up big-time of late is third baseman, Ramon Urias.

In his past 15 games, Urias is hitting .333 with nine runs scored, five homers, 15 RBI, and a 1.035 OPS. He’s now up to 13 homers, 11 home runs, 36 RBI, a 112 OPS+, and a .756 OPS on the season.

Urias has come up with some timely homers in the past few weeks. His power surge shouldn’t come as a surprise, as his 48.4% hard hit percentage currently ranks in the top-10% in the league.

You should definitely consider picking up Urias while both he and the Orioles are playing some great baseball.

Jeimer Candelario, Detroit Tigers

27% Rostered

Candelario has been one of the hotter hitters in baseball since returning from the All-Star break. In his last 15 games, the slugger is hitting .321 with a 1.017 OPS, five homers, seven runs scored, and 13 RBI.

He certainly seems to be turning things around at the plate, as half of his homers this season have been in that span. Candelario had a strong second half last season as well and finished with 16 homers, 42 doubles, and 67 RBI.

The power potential is certainly there, it was just a matter of the 28-year-old finding himself at the plate. Now that that’s happened, Candelario just might be a nice little piece for the second half of the season.
