4 hours agoAtlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley (intercostal) is sitting yet again on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The longer Riley sits out, the more likely him landing on the injured list is. The 27-year-old power-hitting right-hander has been sidelined since May 12 with left-intercostal inflammation, but the good news is that he was cleared to take soft swings in the batting cage on Tuesday. Fantasy managers must keep him on their bench and check back on Wednesday to see if he's cleared to rejoin the starting lineup. Zack Short is getting another start at third base on Tuesday and will hit eighth against Cubs right-hander Javier Assad. Short has only six hits in 38 at-bats so far in 2024 with three different teams and should be avoided in DFS.Source: MLB.com
4 hours agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matt Manning will make the start against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday. It was uncertain what the team was going to do with Kenta Maeda (illness) nearing a return. The plan is for Maeda to throw on Wednesday or Thursday. After that, the Tigers will determine what to do depending on how he feels. For now, Manning will stick in the rotation and make at least one more start. Although, Manning isn't a great streaming option against the tough Blue Jays lineup.Source: Chris McCosky
4 hours agoColorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz (hand) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Oakland Athletics. Diaz will make his return to the lineup after missing each of the last four games due to a hand issue. The 33-year-old was dealing with the issue for weeks before the team decided to shut him down for a few days. Diaz will bat cleanup and cover behind the plate versus right-hander Aaron Brooks. Fantasy managers should make sure to get him back in their lineups.Source: mlb.com
4 hours agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Chicago White Sox. The Blue Jays will play matchups here and give Kiermaier the night off against tough left-hander Garrett Crochet. In his absence, Daulton Varsho will bat seventh and cover center field on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.Source: MLB.com
5 hours agoSeattle Mariners infielder Jorge Polanco (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees. The good news is that Polanco was available off the bench during Monday's contest. It's a bit odd that he still remains out of the lineup despite being available to bat. The 30-year-old has missed seven straight games. It doesn't sound like he'll need to be placed on the injured list but we'll see what happens over the next few days. Dylan Moore will cover second base and bat ninth versus right-hander Clarke Schmidt on Tuesday.Source: mlb.com
5 hours agoNew York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners. The Yanks will give the veteran slugger the night off to rest here. That means, Aaron Judge will serve as the designated hitter, while Trent Grisham gets the start in center field versus right-hander Bryan Woo. The expectation is that Stanton will be back in the lineup after this game.Source: mlb.com
5 hours agoBoston Red Sox catcher Connor Wong is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. This appears to be a routine rest day for Wong. The Red Sox will play matchups and have Reese McGuire behind the plate versus a right-handed starter. McGuire will bat seventh versus righty Zack Littell on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups before first pitch.Source: mlb.com
5 hours agoTampa Bay Rays infielders Yandy Diaz and Jose Caballero are out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox. Fantasy managers shouldn't be worried as this appears to be routine rest day for both players. Jonathan Aranda will cover first base with Brandon Lowe playing second and Amed Rosario is at shortstop for Tuesday's game. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.Source: mlb.com

5 hours agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Matos is starting in center field and batting third on Tuesday in Pittsburgh against the Pirates and veteran left-hander Martin Perez. It's the first time this year that Matos has hit up near the top of the batting order, but he's deserved the move. The 22-year-old Venezuelan outfielder has hit .333 (10-for-30) with two home runs and 17 RBI in just eight games in his second year in the big leagues. Matos is unlikely to keep that high of a batting average through the rest of the season, but he's worth a pickup in fantasy leagues for outfield depth now that rookie Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) is out for the rest of the year. Matos made his big-league debut in 2023 and hit .250/.319/.342 with two homers, 14 RBI, three steals and 24 runs scored in 76 games. It's a good matchup against the soft-tossing Perez on Tuesday for Matos.Source: MLB.com
6 hours agoThe Milwaukee Brewers officially placed right-hander Joe Ross (back) on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with a lower-back strain and recalled right-hander Tobias Myers from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. It was reported that Ross was likely heading to the IL on Monday night after he was forced to leave his start against the Miami Marlins after just one inning due to back tightness. It's something that has been bothering the 31-year-old veteran for a while, so fantasy managers in deeper leagues shouldn't be expecting him to return from the IL when eligible. Myers should be the first option to hold Ross' rotation spot for however long he's sidelined. In his first nine starts of 2024, Ross is 2-4 with a 4.50 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 16 walks and 35 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched.Source: Milwaukee Brewers
6 hours agoMilwaukee Brewers infielder Joey Ortiz (foot) is back at third base and is batting fifth against Miami Marlins left-hander Trevor Rogers on Tuesday. Ortiz was hit by a pitch on his foot in Monday's loss to the Fish but had X-rays come back clean after the game, allowing him to return to the lineup the very next day. The former fourth-round selection of the Baltimore Orioles in 2019 out of New Mexico State has gotten hot since the end of April and is now slashing .290/.398/.533 with a .931 OPS, five home runs, 15 RBI and 16 runs scored in 107 at-bats. He has never faced Rogers in his career but has hit just .148 (4-for-27) with one of his five home runs against left-handed pitching in 2024. In the last 14 days, Ortiz has gone 13-for-39 (.333) with four of his five long balls on the season.Source: Milwaukee Brewers
6 hours agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) hit on the field on Tuesday and ran at 80 percent intensity. The Phillies are encouraged by his progress but continue to say that Turner will not be rushed. The 30-year-old All-Star has not reported any soreness in recent days as he has increased his baseball activities, which is another great sign. Turner is making excellent progress from a left-hamstring injury that was initially expected to keep him out for around six weeks. If he keeps progressing at this rate, though, it might be hard for the Phillies to keep him from coming back well before that mark. Before getting hurt, Turner was hitting an inflated .343 (47-for-137) with two home runs, nine RBI and 10 stolen bases. Edmundo Sosa has filled in nicely at the 6 in his stead, but Turner is the unquestioned starter at short in Philly when he's healthy.Source: The Athletic - Matt Gelb
6 hours agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Edmundo Sosa is taking a day off on Tuesday against the visiting Texas Rangers. With Trea Turner (hamstring) currently on the injured list with a hammy strain, Sosa has become the club's regular shortstop. With Sosa on the bench Tuesday, Bryson Stott will slide over to the 6 while Kody Clemens starts at second base and bats seventh against Rangers right-hander Jon Gray. Sosa has been a great fill-in on the infield for the Phillies, as he's hitting .296 (16-for-54) on the year, albeit with just one home run and eight RBI. Expect the 28-year-old to return to the lineup on Wednesday. Clemens has never faced Gray in his career. Despite going 9-for-28 (.321) this year with three home runs, Clemens will be a low-upside DFS play on Tuesday.Source: MLB.com
6 hours agoHouston Astros infield prospect Jesus Bastidas has been off to a hot start with Triple-A Sugar Land and was named Pacific Coast Triple-A Player of the Week. Over his past six games, the 25-year-old has posted an incredible .542/.571/.1.292 slash line with four home runs, one stolen base, and a 3:3 BB:K ratio. Through 40 total games this season, Bastidas has a .307/.383/.620 slash line with 11 total home runs. He is on pace to set a career-high in almost every statistic. The 25-year-old could see an opportunity in the major leagues later this summer but is worth monitoring nonetheless in dynasty leagues as it looks like he has finally been able to put all of the pieces together.Source: MiLB.com
