6 days agoMinnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Anthony Edwards scored 44 points on 16-for-25 shooting in Sunday's Game 4 loss to Denver, setting a new career playoff high and a franchise record. In fact, Edwards now boasts the top three postseason-scoring performances in Timberwolves history. On Sunday, he was also able to notch five rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block while shooting 5-for-8 from deep. The 22-year-old has looked incredible this postseason, averaging 32.1 points, and something even more special could be coming up from him as Minnesota tries to shift the momentum of the series in the next couple of games.Source: ESPN
6 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley recorded his 12th save of the season versus the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. Helsley worked a perfect 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts. The right-hander remains one of the best closers in the league and hasn't allowed an earned run since April 8. Overall, Helsley has a rock solid 1.42 ERA to go along with a 0.84 WHIP and 21 strikeouts over 19 innings. Managers should continue to enjoy rostering one of the best closers in the game, but also be aware that the Cardinals could be sellers as the season progresses. If Helsley were to be dealt., Andrew Kittredge and Giovanni Gallegos would likely be the next men up for saves.Source: MLB.com
6 days agoDenver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray notched 19 points with five rebounds, eight assists, and two steals as the team tied the second-round series against Minnesota with a 115-107 win on Sunday. Murray was once again questionable for the contest with a calf strain, but he logged 39 minutes despite the ailment and performed just fine, even hitting a half-court shot at the buzzer to close out the first half. He finished with 8-for-17 shooting, going 3-for-7 with the three-ball. Murray had a bad start to the series, but he's now shot at least 40 percent from deep in back-to-back games, picking up good momentum ahead of Tuesday's Game 5.Source: ESPN
6 days agoTexas Rangers infielder/outfielder Ezequiel Duran kept a hot bat on Sunday versus the Colorado Rockies. Duran went 2-for-3 with a walk and a double. His two hits marked his fourth straight multi-hit performance. Duran has seen an uptick in play with rookie outfielder Wyatt Langford (hamstring) and third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) both on the injured list and has taken advantage of it with 13 hits over his last 26 at-bats. He doesn't have any homers this year and only has four RBI with one stolen base, but managers looking for hits should consider Duran. With eligibility at first baseman, third base, shortstop and outfielder, Duran can be a helpful player for managers in deeper leagues until he cools off with the bat.Source: MLB.com
6 days agoDenver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon had a red-hot outing against the Timberwolves in Game 4 on Sunday, hitting 27 points with 11-for-12 shooting from the field. Gordon's only miss came on a jump shot 3:39 from the end when the Nuggets were already cruising to victory. He made both attempts from deep and shot 3-for-3 at the line, capping off the night with seven rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and one steal. Gordon set his career playoff high with 29 points versus the Lakers a couple of weeks back and now boasts three 20-plus efforts in total this postseason. He's been extremely efficient with his work on the offensive end against Minnesota, averaging 17.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.5 steals with 71.8 percent shooting.Source: ESPN
6 days agoDenver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic shot 15-for-26 from the field en route to 35 points in Sunday's Game 4 victory against Minnesota. The three-time MVP produced his highest-scoring performance of the 2024 playoffs, helping the defending champs tie the second-round series. Four of Jokic's misses came with five attempts from deep as he also collected seven rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and one block to his account. After struggling for efficiency at the start of the series against Minnesota, Jokic has shot 25-for-44 across the last two games. With him in improved form, the Nuggets have begun to turn the series around and can go up 3-2 on home court Tuesday night.Source: ESPN
6 days agoMaking his second start of the season on Sunday, Colorado Rockies pitcher Ty Blach earned his first victory of the season. Blach went five innings against the Texas Rangers and allowed seven hits, one run, zero walks and recorded a pair of strikeouts. It was a good start for the veteran against a good Rangers offense, but managers should not be running to the waiver wire to grab the southpaw. The 33-year-old has been operating as a swingman for the Rockies and with a career ERA of 5.09, Blach can remain on the waiver wire.Source: MLB.com
6 days agoIndiana Pacers point guard T.J. McConnell played a big part in Sunday's 121-89 win over the Knicks with 15 points and 10 assists off the bench. Additionally, he registered four rebounds and two steals across 21 minutes of action, shooting 6-for-12 from the field and making both of his attempts from three-point range. McConnell had a strong finish with a 20-point effort in the first round, and his importance has continued to grow in the series against the Knicks. The 32-year-old has posted two double-doubles through four games, averaging 12.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.5 steals.Source: ESPN
6 days agoPittsburgh Pirates first baseman/outfielder Connor Joe went 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs and a two-run homer in Sunday's loss against the Cubs. Joe came up big in the bottom of the 10th inning when he opened it up with a two-run rocket to the bleachers off Adbert Alzolay to open the frame, but it would not be enough to secure the Pirates a victory. Joe has quietly been off to a very good start for the Pirates and has mostly hit no lower than fourth in the lineup this season. For the year, he is hitting .292 with five homers, 20 RBI and two stolen bases to go along with a healthy .866 OPS. Although he isn't the sexiest name, Joe has been having a good enough season to be rostered in deeper mixed leagues.Source: MLB.com
6 days agoNew York Knicks guard/forward Alec Burks finished as the team's top scorer with 20 points as Tom Thibodeau's troops struggled all game against Indiana on Sunday, losing 121-89. The Knicks were already down by 20 after the first quarter, and the bench guys, including Burks, ended up getting a good amount of minutes. Burks made good use of his 23 minutes on the floor, shooting 5-for-11 from the field and 8-for-10 at the line with two made triples. He was also active on the boards with five rebounds and dished out a pair of assists. Injuries have disrupted Thibodeau's plans in the postseason, with Burks making his first playoff appearance of the year in Game 2 against the Pacers. He's averaged a solid 17.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in 22 minutes across the last two games.Source: ESPN
6 days agoChicago Cubs corner infielder/outfielder Patrick Wisdom had a big day in Sunday's victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The slugger went 3-for-4 with a walk, stolen base and solo home run. The home run would occur in the top of the 10th inning off Aroldis Chapman to help propel the Cubs to a win. Wisdom had a slow start to the season with it beginning on the injured list, but he is now hitting .321 with two homers, seven RBI and three stolen bases over his first 28 at-bats. Wisdom has gone on power surges in the past and he is a joy to roster during those times, but he also does not provide much outside of the home run ball. With Wisdom operating as a bench player, he can be avoided for now.Source: MLB.com
7 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Walker Buehler was knocked around against the San Diego Padres on Sunday, taking the loss in a 4-0 defeat. Buehler pitched just 3 ⅓ IP and allowed three runs. He allowed five hits and two walks while striking out two. The 29-year-old was making his second start on the season after coming back from Tommy John surgery, and although it wasn't a disastrous outing, it certainly wasn't encouraging either. His limited pitch count and overall rustiness are to be expected, but fantasy managers were likely looking for a step in the right direction from his last outing, and that didn't happen on either front. It might be a while before we see the Walker Buehler that competed for a Cy Young, if we even see him at all this year.Source: MLB.com
7 days agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Alex Lange got destroyed on Sunday, allowing four runs in just ⅔ IP in a 9-3 loss to the Houston Astros. Lange allowed five hits and two walks while failing to record a strikeout. The 28-year-old had been pitching well recently and seemed to be making a case to be re-inserted into the closer discussion, but a lot of that goodwill went away today with this disastrous performance. The Tigers will likely continue to use Jason Foley in the ninth inning, although they don't seem to fully trust him of late. Still, a lack of other options makes Foley the go-to guy for now.Source: MLB.com
7 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley cruised to his 12th save on Sunday, slamming the door on the Milwaukee Brewers in a 4-3 win. Helsley pitched a perfect ninth inning, striking out a pair in the process. The fireballer has been one of the best closers in baseball this season, converting 12 of his 13 save opportunities (his only blown save came on his first chance) while pitching to a 1.42 ERA and 0.84 WHIP with 21 strikeouts in 19 IP. He should remain an elite closing option as long as he can stay healthy.Source: MLB.com
7 days agoBoston Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen tossed a clean ninth inning to pick up the save in a 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals. Jansen allowed just a hit in his inning of work, with no walks or strikeouts to account for. The veteran closer pitched on a third consecutive day for the first time this season, a move made possible because of his sparse usage in May, with only one other appearance before this weekend. Although he's had a few shaky outings, Jansen has been mostly solid for the Red Sox this season and should continue to see the bulk of their save opportunities. He is a good closing option in fantasy.Source: MLB.com
7 days agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish was excellent again on Sunday, tossing seven shutout innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 4-0 victory. Darvish allowed just two hits and one walk while punching out seven in this one. The 37-year-old is turning back the clock since returning from neck tightness in late April, going 3-0 in his three starts while not allowing any runs and generating a 15:2 K:BB ratio. Darvish is always a tough pitcher to analyze, but he is a must-start while he is on this heater. Looking to sell high on the righty might be a shrewd move, but it is also a risk.Source: MLB.com
7 days agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a homer and a double in an 8-4 win over the Oakland Athletics. Rodriguez added a walk, two runs, and two RBI to round out his line. The 23-year-old is still struggling to find consistency this season, with small hot streaks mixed into a mostly disappointing overall performance. His .255/.310/.323 slash line leaves a lot to be desired, and his paltry 16 runs, two homers, 13 RBI, and nine steals are nowhere close to what fantasy managers expected. Still, the immensely talented outfielder could come alive at any time and provide elite stats, so selling him low is a risky move.Source: MLB.com
7 days agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (ribs) hit a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth against the Atlanta Braves to give the Mets a 4-3 win. Nimmo, who was sitting out on Sunday due to intercostal irritation, came in as a defensive sub in the eighth inning and stayed in to hit in the ninth. The veteran lefty said in an interview earlier in the game that he would be good to go Monday, but apparently he was already feeling well enough to make a major impact on this game. Nimmo should be started in weekly leagues next week barring any news of a setback.Source: MLB.com
7 days agoTyler Reddick ended the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway in the 32nd position, two laps down after he dominated much of the race. Starting from the pole, Reddick commanded the race for 37 laps before losing ground during green flag pit stops and finishing the first stage inread more...
7 days agoIn this week's Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway, Noah Gragson had a quiet but solid performance as he placed 14th. Starting from the last position, 36th, Gragson steadily progressed through the pack and reached the Top 25 by the end of stage one. During the second stage, Gragson continued to ascend through the field, reaching 15th by lap 185. In the final stage, Gragson competed for a top-10 finish and raced close among his teammates, Josh Berry and Chase Briscoe, before he faded to 14th. This is a new career-best finish for Gragson at Darlington in the Cup Series and his fourth consecutive top-15 finish in the past four races this year. While scoring the second-most positive Place Differential this week, Gragson was the sixth-highest scoring driver overall on DraftKings and the eighth-highest on FanDuel. With the NASCAR Cup Series heading to North Wilkesboro for All-Star weekend, Gragson will look to make the All-Star race for the second year in a row.Source: NASCAR.com
7 days agoJosh Berry did not start off the best at Darlington Raceway. However, when the race was over, Berry had his best result with Stewart-Haas Racing. The Ford driver came all the way back from 33rd to end up third on Sunday evening. Berry was not in the Top 10 after the first two stages but battled his way up to the front during the final laps. He got a bigger boost when Tyler Reddick and Chris Buescher had their encounter. Berry nearly caught up to Ty Gibbs for second place but came up a couple tenths of a second short. This could potentially be a springboard for bigger and better things for Berry and Stewart-Haas Racing. Source: NASCAR.com
7 days agoAtlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley (back) was removed during Sunday's game against the New York Mets. The slugging infielder appears to have injured himself during a swing in the third inning. As a precaution, the Braves decided to remove Riley from the game before the bottom of the fourth inning. Braves' manager Brian Snitker reportedly said that Riley was dealing with tightness in his side before the game. The team obviously doesn't want to take any chances with their young superstar. Fantasy managers shouldn't hit the panic button quite yet. There should be more information on his status following Sunday's game. Orlando Arcia, Luke Williams, and Zack Short would be options to play third base if Riley does miss time.Source: Justin Toscano
7 days agoThe Detroit Lions have signed wide receiver Kaden Davis to a one-year deal on Sunday. The 25-year-old was waived by the Arizona Cardinals in April. Davis spent most of the season with Arizona but was only active for one game. He attended the Lions rookie camp and impressed the team enough to earn a contract. He'll have an uphill battle to make the roster but has a chance to hang on as a depth option heading into next season.Source: Mike Garafolo
7 days agoTy Gibbs benefitted when Tyler Reddick and Chris Buescher had their run-in. Gibbs stayed the course and held off Josh Berry to finish second on Sunday evening. It was Gibbs' best finish in the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. The No. 54 car ended up 1.2 seconds behind winner Brad Keselowski. Gibbs also racked up 17 stage points on Sunday behind a second in Stage 2 and third in Stage 1. He keeps coming closer and closer to a win. When will it be the week? The All-Star event is next Sunday so Gibbs will have to wait until Memorial Day weekend at the Coca Cola 600.Source: NASCAR.com
7 days agoOrlando Magic center Wendell Carter Jr. (hand) will undergo surgery. The 25-year-old fractured his left hand in November, limiting him to 55 games last season. But now he'll need another procedure on the same hand to "stabilize the third metacarpal." Carter, who will be re-evaluated in roughly four weeks following the procedure, is expected to make a full recovery. The 2018 No. 7 overall pick had one of the best seasons of his career in 2022-23, averaging 15.2 points and 8.7 assists. However, he took a step backward in both categories last season. Assuming he stays healthy, Carter has a chance to bounce back this season, although many fantasy managers will look past him due to his health and statistical regression.Source: Magic PR
7 days agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed undrafted free agent running back Ramon Jefferson on Sunday. Jefferson was one of 26 players that the Bucs brought in for tryouts over the weekend. It appears the Bucs liked what they saw as they've decided to ink Jefferson to a deal. The rookie back played at four different schools during his time in college. Most notably, Jefferson logged in 1,907 rushing yards on 299 carries across two years with FCS Sam Houston. He'll have an uphill battle in camp but has a chance to crack what is a thin running back group in Tampa Bay.Source: Greg Auman
7 days agoAccording to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, speaking on 95.7 The Game, the Warriors aren't expected to trade forward Jonathan Kuminga this summer. The Warriors undoubtedly need to tweak the roster to compete in a stacked Western Conference. But Kuminga, who was once rumored to be on the move, is anticipated to remain included in the team's plans moving ahead. The 21-year-old had a rough start to the 2023-24 campaign. However, he averaged 18.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 41 games to end the year. With that said, Kuminga appears ready to take a leap in his development, and he'll likely see more than enough interest from fantasy managers heading toward the new season.Source: 95.7 The Game
7 days agoThe New Orleans Saints have signed free-agent guard Lucas Patrick on Sunday. The seven-year guard has spent each of the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears. He made 15 starts for the Bears last season and was a viable option for them. Patrick entered the league with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He played at both the guard and center spot while in Green Bay. He's a versatile player that can be a solid contributor for this offensive line next season.Source: Nick Underhill
7 days agoNew York Knicks forward/center Isaiah Hartenstein (shoulder) finished with five boards and four points in Sunday's blowout loss to the Indiana Pacers. The Knicks struggled in Game 4, with Jalen Brunson the only starter to reach double figures on the scoring end. However, and more importantly, Harteinstein indicated after the loss that he may have pinched a nerve in his shoulder. This is concerning, considering the team is without Mitchell Robinson (ankle), OG Anunoby (hamstring), and Bojan Bogdanovic (ankle). At any rate, Hartenstein stated X-rays were negative and that he would play in Game 5 on Tuesday night. But if he can't make it out there, Jericho Sims and Precious Achiuwa would see more action, with the latter being the more dependable DFS option.Source: Ian Begley
7 days agoBoston Celtics center Luke Kornet (calf) is probable for Monday's meeting with the Cavaliers. He's dealing with calf tightness. However, even with Kristaps Porzingis (calf) sidelined, Kornet has averaged 4.7 points and 3.0 points during the Conference semifinals, meaning his status for Game 4 won't make a difference for DFS participants.Source: NBA Injury Report
