6 months agoJordan Leavitt suffered a first-round submission loss to Chase Hooper at UFC Vegas 82. Leavitt tried to engage with the grappling right away but went 0-for-2 on his takedown attempts. After Hooper stuffed one of his takedown attempts, the two ended up on the mat which began a plethora of scrambling, which saw both men end up on top at certain times. Once Leavitt was on top, he landed a big shot to Hooper that appeared to hurt him. However, Hooper was able to scramble to Leavitt's back and sunk in a choke and forced him to tap. With the loss, Leavitt is now 4-3 in the UFC and 11-3 overall.Source: UFC
6 months agoChase Hooper has his first win streak in the UFC as he scored a first-round submission win over Jordan Leavitt at UFC Vegas 82. Hooper entered the fight coming off a decision win over Nick Fiore back in May in his lightweight debut in the UFC. Right away, Hooper and Leavitt engaged in clinch work as both looked to get the fight to the ground. After Hooper stuffed a takedown, he got on top for a brief moment before Leavitt scrambled on top. However, Hooper eventually was able to scramble to Leavitt's back and sunk in a rear naked choke to get the tap. With the win, Hooper is now 5-3 in the UFC and 13-3-1 overall.Source: UFC
6 months agoPaul Craig suffered a third-round submission loss to Brendan Allen at UFC Vegas 82, which served as Craig's first main event. Craig was badly outstruck on the feet and also went 0-for-2 on takedowns, while he failed to defend any of Allen's takedown attempts, which led to the American having nearly eight minutes of control. After being dominated for two full rounds, Craig ended up getting submitted in the third round to drop to 9-7-1 in the UFC and 17-7-1 overall. He's also now 1-1 since dropping down to middleweight and will likely get an unranked opponent next time out.Source: UFC
6 months agoBrendan Allen improved to 23-5 as a pro and 11-2 with the UFC with a dominant third-round submission win over Paul Craig in the main event of UFC Vegas 82. Allen entered the fight as a sizeable betting favorite, and he showed why. The American outstruck Craig 52-to-13 and had nearly eight minutes of control time as he went 2-for-2 on takedowns in the fight. After dominating Craig for two rounds, Allen ended up sinking in a rear naked choke in the third round to extend his win streak to six. Matthews (19-6) is coming off a win against Darius Flowers, while Morales is 3-0 in the UFC and is on board the UFC hype train. The 29-year-old Aussie has been in the UFC since 2014 when he was only 20 years old winning his debut via submission. He has struggled for consistency in the octagon and is 2-2 in his last four.
