4 days agoOakland Athletics infielder Zack Gelof came up clutch for the team during Monday's game against the New York Yankees. The young infielder broke a scoreless tie with a go-ahead two-run home run in the ninth inning. This was the first time that Gelof had recorded an RBI since April 10. The A's recently dropped Gelof to the sixth-hole, which shouldn't be surprising given how much he has struggled. Most fantasy managers can stay away given his current .205/.271/.352 slash line.Source: MLB.com
4 days agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon was tough to hit during Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics. The left-hander threw seven scoreless innings while allowing only one hit in what ended up being a no-decision. Sadly for Rodon, the Yankees offense didn't do much during this game. The Yankees ended up giving up two runs in the ninth inning and lost 2-0. Rodon is posting a solid 2.70 ERA, even though his 22/13 K/BB ratio isn't pretty. Fantasy managers will take this strong outing, but don't expect it every start from Rodon.Source: MLB.com
4 days agoPhiladelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey (illness) remains questionable for Monday's meeting with the Knicks. Maxey missed shootaround on Tuesday afternoon because of an illness, with Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reporting he's now considered a game-time decision for Game 2. The 23-year-old is coming off a big performance, amassing 33 points in the Game 1 loss to New York. It would be surprising if he weren't out there for the postseason clash. However, if Maxey isn't available, Buddy Hield, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Nicolas Batum should benefit the most.Source: Keith Pompey
4 days agoPittsburgh Pirates right-hander Quinn Priester will get another start on Wednesday to face the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. Priester will get another shot at it for Pittsburgh despite allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits (three home runs) with one walk in 4 1/3 innings in his season debut last Friday against the Boston Red Sox. The 23-year-old is going to need to do better this week against a tough Brewers lineup if he wants any chance of remaining in the Pirates' rotation moving forward. The former 18th overall pick in 2019 out of high school just hasn't been very good so far in the big leagues, dating back to his debut in 2023, as he's gone 3-4 with a 7.79 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with 28 walks and 38 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings over 11 outings (nine starts).Source: MLB.com
4 days agoToronto Blue Jays top pitching prospect Ricky Tiedemann (elbow), who is currently on the injured list at Triple-A Buffalo, is seeing team doctors in Toronto this week. Per the Blue Jays, Tiedemann's next steps will be determined from there. It's usually not a good thing when pitchers are meeting with doctors, but we won't know the true extent of the young pitcher's damage until the results of his meeting with doctors is revealed. The 21-year-old southpaw has been dealing with elbow discomfort after recording a 5.63 ERA and 2.00 WHIP in his first three starts for Buffalo this year. Tiedemann also missed time due to shoulder and biceps issues in 2023, so it's concerning for the No. 26 overall prospect this year, per MLB Pipeline. Even if this isn't a season-ending injury for Tiedemann, we may not see him in the big leagues in 2024.Source: Sportsnet.ca - Ben Nicholson-Smith
4 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitching prospect Landon Knack will make another start on Wednesday versus the Washington Nationals on the road. Knack, 26, made his major-league debut last week against these very same Nats in a start and allowed two earned runs on four hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out four in five innings in a loss. Knack won't be the worst sleeper streamer against a weak Nationals lineup for Wednesday's slate, but there's also a fair amount of risk for a pitcher making his second MLB start on the road. Knack is listed as LA's No. 13 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and is most likely to head back to the minor leagues to fine-tune his arsenal when Walker Buehler (elbow) is finally able to make his season debut after missing all of 2023 due to Tommy John surgery.Source: MLB.com
4 days agoColorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (chest) is back in center field and is batting seventh on Monday against the visiting San Diego Padres and right-hander Dylan Cease. The Rockies held Doyle out as a precaution for the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners after he suffered a chest injury in Game 1. The 25-year-old has limited fantasy upside while hitting down near the bottom of Colorado's batting order, but that hasn't taken away from his hot start in 2024. The former fourth-rounder in 2019 from Shepherd University his hitting .289 (22-for-76) with three home runs, seven RBI and two stolen bases. Doyle is hitless so far in two career at-bats against Cease.Source: MLB.com
4 days agoMilwaukee Brewers right-hander Jakob Junis (head, shoulder) was hit in the head by a line drive during pre-game batting practice before Monday's contest against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Junis is currently on the 15-day injured list with a right-shoulder injury. He was alert and responsive and was taken for more observation by an ambulance at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. The 31-year-old will surely be put through the league's concussion protocol, and it's unclear right now if his head injury will affect how quickly he'll be able to return from the IL for the Brewers. Junis made just one start on April 2 against the Minnesota Twins before going on the shelf with his shoulder injury. In his lone start, he gave up just one earned run on three hits while walking one and striking out four in four innings for a no-decision.Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Kevin Gorman
4 days agoThe Milwaukee Brewers placed left-hander Wade Miley (elbow) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 19) with left-elbow inflammation on Monday. In other moves, the team recalled right-hander Tobias Myers from Triple-A Nashville, reinstated first baseman Jake Bauers from the bereavement list, and optioned infielder Andruw Monasterio to Nashville. The 37-year-old Miley started the 2024 season on the injured list with a left-shoulder injury and he also missed time in 2023 with elbow and lat ailments. Miley is set to undergo tests on Tuesday and could be out for an extended amount of time. Myers is the most logical choice to fill in for Miley on Tuesday and start against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Miley already wasn't really an attractive option for fantasy managers in deep-mixed leagues before the injury.Source: Milwaukee Brewers
4 days agoAtlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies (toe) started hitting on Monday and could still return from the injured list on Friday when he's eligible to come off the 10-day injured list. Albies has progress quickly from his fractured big toe, which has to music to his fantasy managers' ears. The 27-year-old shouldn't be available on the waiver wire in any fantasy leagues despite his injury, which came when he was hit by a pitch last week. With Albies out, Luis Guillorme and David Fletcher have both seen playing time at the keystone in Atlanta. The switch-hitting Albies had gone 20-for-63 (.317) with two home runs, 14 RBI and two stolen bases at the time of his injury, so hopefully he can pick up where he left off when he's back. Albies is a must-start on the daily when he's in Atlanta's lineup.Source: MLB.com - Mark Bowman
4 days agoNew York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Monday's 2-0 loss to the Oakland A's. The season hasn't been kind to him, as he is averaging .167 (15-for-90) with five doubles, three homers, 15 runs, 11 RBI, 17 walks, and 31 strikeouts over 23 games. Judge should be able to find some hits within the series against the A's as the matchups favor him and the Yankees. Even with the struggles, Judge is a must-start in all league formats, providing power when he connects.Source: ESPN.com
4 days agoThe Minnesota Twins optioned right-hander Louie Varland and catcher Jair Camargo to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday. Manager Rocco Baldelli didn't commit to Varland taking his next turn through the team's starting rotation after another subpar performance on Sunday, when he allowed four runs in just 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Detroit Tigers. The 26-year-old former 15th-round pick in 2019 out of Concordia University has lost all four of his starts so far in 2024 and is sporting an ugly 9.18 ERA and 2.16 WHIP with nine walks and 18 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings pitched. He's already allowed six home runs in four starts after allowing 16 all of last year in a career-high 68 innings pitched. Prospect Simeon Woods Richardson is most likely to take Varland's spot in Minnesota's rotation moving forward.Source: Minnesota Twins
4 days agoUniversity of Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey has seemingly been rising up draft boards since his impressive showing at the 2024 NFL Combine, and he is now favored to be a first-round pick, according to DraftKings Sportsbook's odds. DraftKings gives the 22-year-old -105 odds to be one of the first 32 players off the board. In three seasons with the Bulldogs, the speedster collected 119 receptions for 1,687 yards and 14 touchdowns and rushed 13 times for 216 yards and four scores. He also averaged 13.3 yards per punt return on 21 attempts. He's a dynamic and versatile weapon with real route-running juice, so WR-needy teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Buffalo Bills could be interested in pushing the draft button on him late in the first round on Thursday.Source: DraftKings
4 days agoThe Minnesota Twins activated outfielder Max Kepler (knee) from the 10-day injured list on Monday, and he's in the starting lineup right away against the Chicago White Sox and rookie right-hander Jonathan Cannon. Kepler is in right field and is batting fifth. The 31-year-old left-handed hitter looked good on his short minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul and should go back to the strong side of a platoon in right field against right-handed pitchers. His return is bad news for both Trevor Larnach and Carlos Santana moving forward. Fantasy managers using Kepler in deeper leagues will hope he can start swinging the bat like he did on his rehab assignment after getting just one hit in his first 20 at-bats of the season before landing on the IL.Source: Minnesota Twins
4 days agoThe New England Patriots signed free-agent tight end Mitchell Wilcox on Monday, the team announced on X. Originally undrafted out of the 2020 class, Wilcox has spent the last four years with the Cincinnati Bengals. In 48 career games, the South Florida product has hauled in 29 of his 35 targets for 211 yards and one touchdown. The Patriots re-signed Hunter Henry to a three-year, $27 million deal this offseason, so the TE1 role is occupied in Foxborough. Wilcox could have the chance to compete with Austin Hooper for the TE2 job, but Hooper is likely the favorite to back up Henry. That said, Wilcox can be ignored in fantasy football.Source: New England Patriots On X
4 days agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton appears to be getting a day off on Monday against the visiting Chicago White Sox. Austin Martin will take over in center field for the Twins and will hit ninth in the batting order against White Sox rookie right-hander Jonathan Cannon. First baseman Alex Kirilloff will also head leadoff for this one. First baseman Carlos Santana will be the designated hitter. Buxton has so far stayed healthy in 2024, but he's hitting a lowly .217 (15-for-69) with no home runs, nine RBI and no stolen bases in 20 games played. There's still time for the 30-year-old to turns things around, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect frequent running on the base paths to be Buxton's thing anymore. Martin will be a low-upside DFS sleeper in the nine-hole on Monday.Source: MLB.com
4 days agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley (illness) and Will Benson are both out of the lineup on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Ranger Suarez. Fraley is missing his third straight game due to an illness, while it appears Benson is being rested with a lefty on the mound in this one. Stuart Fairchild is starting in right field and batting leadoff, while Bubba Thompson gets a start in center field and is batting in the nine-hole. Fairchild might be worth a look as a low-cost DFS sleeper in the leadoff spot. He's hitting .250 (10-for-40) so far with no homers, five RBI and five stolen bases in 2024. Fairchild is hitless in his five career at-bats against Suarez, while Thompson has never faced the soft-tossing lefty in his career.Source: MLB.com

4 days agoCincinnati Reds second baseman Jonathan India (illness) remains out of the starting lineup on Monday against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. Santiago Espinal is filling in at the keystone and will bat seventh in the lineup against Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez. This will be the second straight game that India has missed while being under the weather. The former National League Rookie of the Year is hitting just .174/.326/.232 with no home runs, four RBI, two stolen bases and 10 runs scored in his first 69 at-bats of the 2024 season. The good news is that when healthy, India should continue to play regularly because of the injury to Matt McLain (oblique). Espinal isn't a great DFS sleeper, as he's hitting .128 (5-for-39) early on with no homers, five RBI and three stolen bases.Source: Cincinnati Reds
4 days agoThe Cincinnati Reds placed right-hander Frankie Montas (forearm) on the 15-day injured list on Monday with a right-forearm contusion and recalled right-hander Casey Legumina from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. Montas heads to the IL after getting hit in the right forearm by a comebacker in Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The 31-year-old has a good chance of coming back in two weeks when he's eligible after avoiding a fracture to his arm. With Montas out of action for a few weeks, swingman Nick Martinez will become more attractive in fantasy leagues with a move to the starting rotation. In what Montas' managers are hoping is a bounce-back year, he's so far been inconsistent with a 4.19 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 14 K's in 19 1/3 innings over five starts.Source: Cincinnati Reds
4 days agoUniversity of Texas running back Jonathon Brooks (knee) is the odds-on favorite to be the first running back off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The 20-year-old has -110 odds to be selected first, with Florida State's Trey Benson (+220) and Michigan's Blake Corum (+400) trailing behind him. Brooks sat behind Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson during his first two collegiate seasons, but he broke out as a redshirt sophomore in 2023 with 187 carries for 1,139 yards and rushing 10 touchdowns to go along with 25 receptions for 286 yards and one receiving score. He suffered a torn ACL on November 11, but if he's the first ball carrier drafted, fantasy managers can assume the team who selects him is comfortable with his medical report.Source: DraftKings
4 days agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Jose Siri (kidneys) is back in center field and is hitting eighth on Monday against the visiting Detroit Tigers and left-hander Tarik Skubal after missing two of the three games over the weekend due to kidney stones. It's good to see the 28-year-old back in action, but his low spot in Tampa's batting order and his slow start to the year make him a tough sell in DFS lineups in a touch matchup against Skubal. Siri has gone 1-for-23 with 12 strikeouts in his last seven games and is hitting .188 (13-for-69) with a home run, five RBI and six stolen bases in his first 22 games played in 2024. On top of it, Siri has gone hitless in his first four career at-bats against Skubal.Source: MLB.com
4 days agoDallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is entering the final year of his deal in 2024, and he and the organization have not begun contract negotiations. The former fourth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft threw for a career-high 36 touchdowns in 2023, but Dallas suffered another disappointing playoff defeat in the NFC Divisional Round. On his contract situation, Prescott said "I'm not trying to be the highest paid necessarily. We'll wait until the negotiations begin and obviously want to put this team in the best situation." If the 30-year-old is willing to take a home team discount, it could help his chances of reaching a new deal. Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and edge rusher Micah Parson will be up for new deals soon, meaning the Cowboys have a lot to figure out over the next few offseasons.Source: Ari Meirov -- 33rd Team
4 days agoThe Tampa Bay Rays placed right-handed reliever Pete Fairbanks (undisclosed) on the 15-day injured list with a nerve-related issue on Monday and recalled right-hander Kevin Kelly from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. We'll get more specific information out there once it's released by the team, but this doesn't sound good at all for the Rays' closer. Fantasy managers with Fairbanks or in need of saves should consider putting a claim on Jason Adam, who could be next in line for saves in Tampa until Fairbanks can return. Fairbanks hasn't had a great start to 2024, either, going 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA, three saves, a 2.29 WHIP and 10 K's with eight walks in seven innings. Tampa could totally run with a committee for saves, too, as Colin Poche and Garrett Cleavinger have recorded the team's last two saves, not AdamSource: Bally Sports Florida - Ryan Bass
4 days agoMinnesota Twins first baseman Alex Kirilloff is leading off in Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox. With Edouard Julien struggling in the top spot, Kirilloff will move up in the order and lead off for the first time this season. The 26-year-old has been one of the team's better hitters this season, coming into Monday's contest with a .279 average and nine extra-base hits through 19 games. He also has a hit in four of the past five games and should give a Minnesota offense that has struggled on offense some boost atop the order. He is worth a look in most formats, especially if he continues to hit toward the top of the Twins' order.Source: MLB.com
4 days agoAtlanta Braves first basemen Matt Olson went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts Sunday against the Texas Rangers. Olson's strikeout issues continue to stack up as he struck out six times in three games over the weekend, finishing 0-for-12 with one run, one RBI, and two walks. The struggles have followed him all season long as he is hitting .231 (18-for-92) with seven doubles, one triple, three homers, 12 runs, 13 RBI, 12 walks, and 26 strikeouts over 20 games. Despite striking out four times on Sunday, Olson remains a must-start in all league formats.Source: ESPN.com
4 days agoPhoenix Suns guard Grayson Allen (ankle) will be listed as questionable on Tuesday for Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves. After exiting Saturday's Game 1 defeat to the T-Wolves due to a sprained right ankle, Allen wasn't a full participant in practice on Monday but was still able to get some shots up and has been getting treatment "around the clock," per head coach Frank Vogel. After netting a team-high four three-pointers in the first game of this first-round series against Minnesota, three-and-D wing Royce O'Neale would be a prime candidate to join Phoenix's starting five and a more attractive DFS option if Allen sits out on Tuesday. In eight regular-season games as a starter for the Suns, O'Neale chipped in 11.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.3 steals, and 3.1 threes per contest.Source: Gerald Bourguet - GoPHNX.com
4 days agoTexas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter blasted a solo home run in the team's 6-4 win over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday night. Carter got the Rangers scoring started in the top of the fourth inning when he connected with an 81.1 mph changeup from Braves starter Darius Vines for a 398-foot home run. That was his third home run of the year. The 21-year-old has hit a bit of a rookie wall through the first 20 games of the season, hitting just .211 with three home runs and seven RBI. While he might not be a capable fantasy starter right now, he should pick it up as the season goes on. He could be a great buy-low option.Source: ESPN
4 days agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. went 0-for-4 with a walk in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Tatis went 1-for-12 with one homer, two walks, and three strikeouts against the Blue Jays over the weekend. The 25-year-old is slashing .261/.343/.478 with six homers, 15 RBI, 16 runs, and three stole bases over 105 plate appearances in 2024. With a four-game series starting Monday versus the Colorado Rockies, each game has a favorable matchup rating for the Padres outfielder. Despite struggling against the Jays this past weekend, fantasy managers should continue to start Tatis in all league formats.Source: ESPN.com
4 days agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso was one of seven players to get a hit against Los Angeles starter Tyler Glasnow in the team's 10-0 loss on Sunday. Alonso flew out his first time and struck out his second time before hitting a single to right field in his third at-bat of the game. It's been a bit of a slow start for the first baseman through the first 21 games of the season, as he is slashing .241/.323/.482 with six home runs, 11 RBI, and two doubles at the plate. Despite his low average, the 29-year-old will continue being a fantasy starter moving forward, given his power numbers.Source: ESPN
