3 years agoAvery Bradley will eventually make his return, in the meantime, look for the Celtics to give the rest of the roster quality in-game experience -- arguably the most important trait in basketball. Jaylen Brown has been inserted into the starting lineup and has played like a seasoned player each night. Earlier in the season, he took on the responsibility of guarding LeBron James. Since then, Brown has played with confidence that has put him above the rest of the Celtics roster, even as a second-year player. His defense-first mentality and constant hustle does not make him the most appealing fantasy player, but minutes are minutes and Brown can do a little bit of everything. If he is not on your fantasy radar now, look for him to make a splash in the postseason. Kelly Olynyk will cut into Amir Johnson and Jonas Jerebko's minutes.--Jake Finnen - RotoBallerSource: Chris Forsberg

3 years agoWhile the Nets have been THE worst team in the Association, it has been suspiciously hard to stray away from this team when it comes to fantasy. Shooters like Bojan Bogdanovic and Sean Kilpatrick jump out, while offensive-minded Brook Lopez increases the potency of this squad. Unfortunately, outside of those three, there is limited experience not named Luis Scola and Trevor Booker to do most of the scoring. That being said, Caris LeVert is a hybrid player that can control the pace of the game and has serious potential to be a consistent scorer on this team. Tonight against the Pacers, he is going to be an awkward matchup for whoever is guarding him, assuming he faces Glenn Robinson III. LeVert is a low-floor, high-ceiling commodity against the Pacers.--Jake Finnen - RotoBallerSource: Anthony Puccio

3 years agoAfter missing the Nuggets' last game versus Memphis, Nikola Jokic has been dealing with a hip injury that coach Mike Malone does not want to rush. Jokic is a cornerstone of the Denver squad and without him the team is forced to shift the offense away from the post-passing offense they usually run through Jokic towards the more turnover-prone guards. With Jokic on a minutes restriction, expect Kenneth Faried, Jusuf Nurkic and Wilson Chandler to all see increased roles, while only Faried and Chandler will see increased production.--Jake Finnen - RotoBallerSource: CF Gardner

3 years agoArron Afflalo has been increasing his fantasy production in recent games, mostly in part to the Kings lack of scoring. In DFS, he has simmered down a bit the past two games and the Kings have been reliant on Afflalo, with his near-unstoppable turn around. When he is in the zone, his jump shot is one of the harder shots to block in the league for unexplainable reasons. Unfortunately, he is dealing with a stomach virus and Sacramento will need dig even further into their bench to find some scoring outside of DeMarcus Cousins. Ben McLemore, Malachi Richardson and Matt Barnes will see increased workloads while Darren Collison, Ty Lawson, and Cousins do most (all) of the facilitating on offense. If Afflalo doesn't play, expect someone you have never heard of to see some playing time.--Jake Finnen - RotoBallerSource: Jason Jones

3 years agoNorman Powell has been a gem for those who managed to pick him up before the injury to DeMar DeRozan. With the workload he has been given, owners can only appreciate the amount of shots he is taking. Although he is not hitting every night, he has the potential to go off against any matchup due to his ability to catch fire with his quick, high-release jump shot. While DeRozan is out, Powell is a solid play in all formats, as long as his price stays fairly modest, below $6,000 on DraftKings, $6,400 on FanDuel. Even when DeRozan returns, Powell has carved himself out an even nicer role in the Raptors rotation.--Jake Finnen - RotoBallerSource: John Denton

3 years agoJulius Randle played six minutes in Thursday's game against the Washington Wizards, collecting two points and two rebounds in his return from pneumonia. The Lakers power forward is listed as questionable for tonight's game against the Boston Celtics, so the former Kentucky standout might have pushed too hard, too soon. Randle's out-of-position assists make him a tremendously valuable fantasy player. For some reason, Randle's player rank has remained pretty low throughout the season, likely as a result of his disproportionately high turnover rate. Nonetheless, he's a steady hold in any league (though I might recommend punting turnovers if you pick him up).--Matt De SilvaSource: Mark Medina

3 years agoHouston Rockets center Clint Capela registered 22 points, nine rebounds, two steals and one block in 31 minutes of action against the Atlanta Hawks. The young Rocket has improved game by game since returning from injury (fractured fibula). That being said, Capela has not provided the defensiveread more...

3 years agoDetroit Pistons center Andre Drummond has historically outperformed Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns when the two clubs have met. The Pistons have defeated Minnesota in their last three meetings with Drummond averaging 22 points and 17 rebounds. Towns has posted averages of 18 points and 9.3 rebounds in those games. Part of the reason for Drummond's strong play is that Detroit's inside-out attack with point guard Reggie Jackson helps to alleviate defensive pressure. By contrast, the lanes get clogged up when Ricky Rubio or Kris Dunn are running the offense for the Timberwolves (as defenders sag off of the poor shooting point guards). Tonight, Drummond makes for a perfect play in DFS, while KAT should be avoided.--Matt De SilvaSource: NBA.com

3 years agoChris Dempsey of The Denver Post reports that Nuggets center Nikola Jokic will play tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks. Coach Mike Malone explained that Jokic will face a minutes restriction, but "not a terribly stringent one." This is fantastic news for managers with Jokic on their roster, read more...

3 years agoAccording to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Golden State Warriors have waived backup center Anderson Varejao to make room for Briante Weber, whom they are signing to a 10-day contract. Weber, 24, was the NBA Development League’s Player of the Month for January, averaging 21 points, eight assists, six rebounds and 3.6 steals for Sioux Falls. The 24-year-old point guard out of VCU is considered a defensive specialist, as you might have guessed from that sterling stat line. It's tough to imagine Weber receiving significant playing time in the Warriors' rotation, but he's worth keeping an eye on, especially if you need to stream steals.--Matt De SilvaSource: Adrian Wojnarowski

3 years agoOver the last 15 days, Miami Heat shooting guard/small forward Dion Waiters is averaging 22.1 points, 4.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds. 3 years agoWhenever he exceeds 20 minutes of action, it seems like Ivica Zubac posts an enticing fantasy stat line. In 21 minutes against the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers rookie posted 17 points, six rebounds and one assist while shooting 8-for-9 from the field. Coach Luke Walton has yetread more...

3 years agoLos Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul is back on the court just two weeks after a procedure to fix a torn ligament in his left thumb. Coach Doc Rivers spoke about Paul's injury. "He’ll be able to shoot and run and play right away. You just can’t touch him. He just can’t receive a lot of passes with his left [hand] yet. But he’ll be fit. And that’s huge.” Paul is expected to return in mid-March, just in time for fantasy playoffs. As long as you have an IR spot, he remains a strong stash candidate. As long as the Clippers keep sliding, there's an outside chance that the organization will push for an earlier return.--Matt De SilvaSource: Kevin Baxter

3 years agoWith Joel Embiid due to miss three games because of a knee injury, Jahlil Okafor will take his place and get the start against the Mavericks. A weak interior defensive team, Dallas could get burned by Okafor tonight. Dirk Nowitzki and Harrison Barnes are the two guys that will be defending him, and that’s just not a good matchup for the Mavericks. Okafor is a load to handle when playing out of the high/low post, and he’s going to get plenty of opportunities to do that going up against Nowitzki. So because of that, I’d play him today in all DFS leagues.--Aaron S - RotoBallerSource: FantasyLabs NBA

3 years agoDerrick Rose is out of his walking boot, however, he still remains doubtful to play against the Brooklyn Nets. The Knicks guard has continued dealing with a sprained left ankle that’s prevented him from playing in the last two games. But with Rose out, Courtney Lee has been asked to play more of a prominent role on the offensive end of the floor, and he’s done just that. Prior to the Wizards game, Lee was averaging double-digit scoring totals for five games straight. So look for him to bounce back and do that again against the lowly Brooklyn Nets.--Aaron S - RotoBallerSource: Basketball Monster
