3 mins agoThe Milwaukee Brewers officially placed right-hander Joe Ross (back) on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with a lower-back strain and recalled right-hander Tobias Myers from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. It was reported that Ross was likely heading to the IL on Monday night after he was forced to leave his start against the Miami Marlins after just one inning due to back tightness. It's something that has been bothering the 31-year-old veteran for a while, so fantasy managers in deeper leagues shouldn't be expecting him to return from the IL when eligible. Myers should be the first option to hold Ross' rotation spot for however long he's sidelined. In his first nine starts of 2024, Ross is 2-4 with a 4.50 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 16 walks and 35 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched.Source: Milwaukee Brewers
12 mins agoMilwaukee Brewers infielder Joey Ortiz (foot) is back at third base and is batting fifth against Miami Marlins left-hander Trevor Rogers on Tuesday. Ortiz was hit by a pitch on his foot in Monday's loss to the Fish but had X-rays come back clean after the game, allowing him to return to the lineup the very next day. The former fourth-round selection of the Baltimore Orioles in 2019 out of New Mexico State has gotten hot since the end of April and is now slashing .290/.398/.533 with a .931 OPS, five home runs, 15 RBI and 16 runs scored in 107 at-bats. He has never faced Rogers in his career but has hit just .148 (4-for-27) with one of his five home runs against left-handed pitching in 2024. In the last 14 days, Ortiz has gone 13-for-39 (.333) with four of his five long balls on the season.Source: Milwaukee Brewers
20 mins agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (hamstring) hit on the field on Tuesday and ran at 80 percent intensity. The Phillies are encouraged by his progress but continue to say that Turner will not be rushed. The 30-year-old All-Star has not reported any soreness in recent days as he has increased his baseball activities, which is another great sign. Turner is making excellent progress from a left-hamstring injury that was initially expected to keep him out for around six weeks. If he keeps progressing at this rate, though, it might be hard for the Phillies to keep him from coming back well before that mark. Before getting hurt, Turner was hitting an inflated .343 (47-for-137) with two home runs, nine RBI and 10 stolen bases. Edmundo Sosa has filled in nicely at the 6 in his stead, but Turner is the unquestioned starter at short in Philly when he's healthy.Source: The Athletic - Matt Gelb
25 mins agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Edmundo Sosa is taking a day off on Tuesday against the visiting Texas Rangers. With Trea Turner (hamstring) currently on the injured list with a hammy strain, Sosa has become the club's regular shortstop. With Sosa on the bench Tuesday, Bryson Stott will slide over to the 6 while Kody Clemens starts at second base and bats seventh against Rangers right-hander Jon Gray. Sosa has been a great fill-in on the infield for the Phillies, as he's hitting .296 (16-for-54) on the year, albeit with just one home run and eight RBI. Expect the 28-year-old to return to the lineup on Wednesday. Clemens has never faced Gray in his career. Despite going 9-for-28 (.321) this year with three home runs, Clemens will be a low-upside DFS play on Tuesday.Source: MLB.com
27 mins agoHouston Astros infield prospect Jesus Bastidas has been off to a hot start with Triple-A Sugar Land and was named Pacific Coast Triple-A Player of the Week. Over his past six games, the 25-year-old has posted an incredible .542/.571/.1.292 slash line with four home runs, one stolen base, and a 3:3 BB:K ratio. Through 40 total games this season, Bastidas has a .307/.383/.620 slash line with 11 total home runs. He is on pace to set a career-high in almost every statistic. The 25-year-old could see an opportunity in the major leagues later this summer but is worth monitoring nonetheless in dynasty leagues as it looks like he has finally been able to put all of the pieces together.Source: MiLB.com
32 mins agoTexas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter will take a seat on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies with a left-hander on the mound in Ranger Suarez. Carter, who is still only 21 years old, has hit just .205/.293/.394 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 23 runs scored in 40 games in 2024 in his first full season in the big leagues. Against left-handers, he has just three hits in 27 at-bats with one walk and 10 strikeouts. If Carter continues to struggle offensively for the reigning World Series champions, he could find himself on the bench more often than not when a lefty is on the mound. Ezequiel Duran is in left field and is hitting fifth against Suarez on Tuesday. Duran is hitting a strong .286 (24-for-84) on the year but has just four RBI and has yet to clear the fences. He's never faced Suarez in his career.Source: MLB.com
38 mins agoTexas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia (forearm) remains out of the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Derek Hill was called up from Triple-A Round Rock and will get the start in right field on Tuesday while batting eighth against Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez. Garcia was scratched from Sunday's lineup with right-forearm discomfort after colliding with second baseman Marcus Semien on Saturday. The good news is that the 31-year-old right-handed slugger isn't suffering from a serious injury and could be back in the lineup as early as Wednesday's contest in Philly. When healthy and in the lineup, Garcia is a must-start in all fantasy formats, despite the fact he's hit just .188 (13-for-69) with three homers and 10 RBI in 17 games in May. Overall, he's batting .251 with 11 long balls, 35 RBI and four steals in 175 at-bats.Source: Texas Rangers PR
39 mins agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Zach Logue was named International League Triple-A Pitcher Of The Week after tossing a one-hit seven-inning gem. He allowed no runs, no walks, and struck out eight batters. Logue has performed well with Triple-A this season with a solid 2.43 ERA and 0.94 WHIP. Logue has only seen a few opportunities in the majors, but due to his strong start to the season, he could be given a longer leash this time around. The 28-year-old could become a name to monitor and might be worth adding in NL-only redraft leagues when he is promoted to the major league roster, as he will either be used as a spot starter or given opportunities to tally holds behind a strong Braves team.Source: Gwinnett Stripers
43 mins agoCincinnati Reds outfielder TJ Friedl (thumb) is hoping to start swinging off a tee sometime this week. Friedl fractured his left thumb over a week ago but apparently is already getting close to swinging a bat again. It's remarkable progress for the 28-year-old, but the Reds could still choose to slow-play his rehab, and there's no current timetable for a return. When healthy, the former undrafted free agent is a regular in Cincy's lineup against right-handed pitching while batting from the left side. He's been extremely unfortunate with injuries in 2024, already fracturing his thumb and wrist, which has limited him to just 22 at-bats. Friedl has just four hits (no homers) in those 22 at-bats with two RBI and two stolen bases. He hit .279 with 18 homers, 66 RBI and 27 steals in 138 games in 2023, making him stash-worthy in at least deep-mixed fantasy leagues.Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Charlie Goldsmith
46 mins agoOn Tuesday, Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert was selected to the NBA All-Defensive First Team. Gobert has been named to the All-Defensive first team seven times during his 11-year career. Minnesota's big man has been a critical factor in the Timberwolves' postseason run to the Western Conference Finals, starting Wednesday against Dallas. The Defensive Player of the Year has suited up for 10 playoff games, averaging 12.2 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 1.0 steals across 34.3 minutes on the court per game.Source: Shams Charania

53 mins agoBoston Red Sox starting pitching prospect Zach Penrod was recently named Eastern League Pitcher Of The Week. Penrod has been outstanding this season with Double-A Portland as he has pitched 30 innings to the tune of a 2.10 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and a solid 44:12 K:BB ratio. This past week, the southpaw tallied ten punchouts in consecutive outings for the first time in his career. Penrod has looked quite solid after recovering from Tommy John surgery the past few seasons. Last year, he held a 2.18 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 20:11 K:BB ratio through 20 ⅔ innings with High-A. Penrod should be a name to monitor this summer, as he has looked quite strong since the end of his recovery and could become a name to target in dynasty leagues down the road.Source: Portland Sea Dogs
58 mins agoCincinnati Reds left-hander Nick Lodolo (groin) has a long bullpen session scheduled for the next day or two, according to manager David Bell. The next steps/return plan will be revealed after Lodolo throws his bullpen this week. Lodolo was placed on the 15-day injured list with a groin injury and will be eligible to return on May 27. The 26-year-old southpaw has been optimistic that he'll be back in Cincy's rotation when eligible, but we'll have to see if that comes to fruition. In order for that to happen, Lodolo might have to skip a minor-league rehab assignment. The former seventh overall pick in 2019 out of TCU pitched in only seven games in 2023 due to a stress fracture in his leg. In six starts so far this year, he has a career-best 3.34 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with nine walks and 43 strikeouts in 35 innings. For his strikeout upside alone, Lodolo deserves to be stashed in all fantasy leagues.Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Charlie Goldsmith
1 hour agoNew Orleans Saints utility player Taysom Hill could have a significant role in 2024 under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, according to Saints reporter Jeff Duncan. The veteran has acted as a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, return man, and special teams ace in his seven-year career with New Orleans. Overall, he has posted 2,348 passing yards, 2,159 rushing yards, 756 receiving yards, 447 return yards, and 49 total touchdowns. Due to his tight end eligibility in lineups, he remains on the fantasy football radar, especially after this report. Hill has posted top-10 half-PPR finishes among tight ends in each of the last two seasons, and he could be primed to do it again in 2024.Source: Jeff Duncan
1 hour agoIt isn't that there's nothing to like about where the game is at for Rafael Campos right now, as his T9 finish at the Byron Nelson would attest to. He gained over six shots on the greens at TPC Craig Ranch over rounds one, two, and four. His third-round score of -2 and losing -2.67 strokes on the greens potentially kept the 36-year-old from getting his first career win. He narrowly missed the cut in Myrtle Beach, which could be chalked up to one or two shots making the difference. Simply put, Campos has performed much better over his last few outings than his season-long stats reflect, and those looking to stash more than one or two top-tier guys may consider looking his way at $7,100 on FanDuel. 1 hour agoMinnesota Twins starting pitching prospect Andrew Morris was promoted to Double-A on Tuesday, May 21. Morris has been excellent this season and was recently named the High-A Midwest League Pitcher of the Week on May 19 due to his stellar outing on May 15, in which he tossed seven shutout innings, allowing just one hit and tallying six punchouts. Through 37 ⅔ innings at High-A this season, the 22-year-old has a 2.15 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 43:7 K:BB ratio. The former fourth-round selection is considered the number 18 prospect in Minnesota on MLB Pipeline, but that could change over the summer as Morris settles in at Double-A. He should be monitored closely by dynasty managers as he could push for a late-season promotion to Triple-A.Source: MiLB.com
1 hour agoMinnesota Vikings rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy took third-team reps during Tuesday's OTAs, according to Vikings reporter Andrew Krammer. Sam Darnold is operating as the starter for now, while veteran Nick Mullens is in the QB2 role. McCarthy, the team's No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 Draft, is viewed as the quarterback of the future, but there's a good chance he's eased along slowly given his youth. The National Championship-winning signal-caller turned 21 years old just four months ago, and he only attempted 713 total passes in three years in Michigan's run-heavy offense. Darnold has early-season appeal in deep Superflex or 2QB setups, while McCarthy is more of a dynasty league asset for the time being. The Vikings have a Week 6 bye in 2024, so Week 7 could be a potential target date for McCarthy's first taste of regular season action.Source: Andrew Krammer
1 hour agoArizona Diamondbacks third base prospect Deyvison De Los Santos was promoted to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday, May 21. The number 14 prospect in the Arizona pipeline has been off to a scorching start of the season at the plate with Double-A and was rewarded for this by moving up to the final stop in the minor leagues. Through 38 games this season with Double-A Amarillo, the 20-year-old posted an incredible .372/.426/.696 slash line with 14 home runs, 37 RBI, and a 12:36 BB:K ratio. De Los Santos spent all of last season with Double-A but posted a mediocre .254/.297/.431 line with 20 home runs. This recent promotion now opens the door for a late-season major league debut, especially due to his impressive start. The 20-year-old should be rostered in most dynasty leagues and could become a popular stash candidate if he can carry this momentum into his taste of Triple-A.Source: MiLB Central
1 hour agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Spencer Steer (ankle) is sitting out of the starting lineup again on Tuesday against the visiting San Diego Padres. Steer didn't play on Sunday and remains sidelined despite the Reds having a scheduled day off on Monday. The 26-year-old was able to make a pinch-hitting appearance on Sunday, though, and says he's available off the bench once again on Tuesday. It means that Steer is unlikely to land on the injured list, and fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. In his absence on Tuesday, rookie Jacob Hurtubise is starting in left field and batting leadoff against Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove, who is making his first start off the injured list. Hurtubise has DFS sleeper upside in the leadoff spot and has gone 2-for-8 with a walk and a strikeout in his first six big-league games this year.Source: MLB.com
1 hour agoSan Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama is the first rookie to be selected to the NBA All-Defensive first team. The National Basketball Association has named an All-Defensive first and second team since the 1968-69 season. Wembanyama was also awarded the NBA Rookie of the Year earlier in the month. In 71 regular season contests, the 20-year-old rookie averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks, and 1.2 steals during 29.7 minutes per game.Source: Shams Charania
1 hour agoSan Diego Padres second baseman Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) is out of the starting lineup on Tuesday for the series opener in Cincinnati against the Reds. Bogaerts hurt his left shoulder diving for a ball on Monday early on in the first game of a doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves and was kept out of Game 2, so this will be his second straight missed game. Luis Arraez will once again start at second base and hit leadoff, while Donovan Solano is the designated hitter and is batting sixth against Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott. Tests on Bogaerts' shoulder on Monday came back negative, so he's currently considered day-to-day. Fantasy managers will have to check back on Wednesday to see if he's back in action. Bogaerts has been a disappointment so far in 2024 with a .219 average, four homers, 14 RBI and four steals, but he just snapped a six-game hitting streak on Monday.Source: MLB.com
1 hour agoTennessee Titans defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat (undisclosed) is reportedly rehabbing an injury at the start of OTAs, but head coach Brian Callahan didn't offer any specifics. Sweat was selected with the No. 38 overall pick by Tennessee out of the University of Texas and is expected to be a Day 1 starter next to All-Pro Jeffery Simmons. The 22-year-old was named a unanimous All-American in his final season at Texas, and he won the Outland Trophy for the nation's most outstanding interior lineman. The 366-pounder has elite run-stopping upside in the NFL, so hopefully, his early-career injury won't slow down his development.Source: NFL.com
1 hour agoSan Diego Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove (elbow) has officially been reinstated from the 15-day injured list and is returning to start on Tuesday on the road in Cincinnati against the Reds. Musgrove is returning from a bout with right-elbow inflammation that has sidelined him since May 1. The 31-year-old has been hit around a bit so far in 2024 and has been leaving the ball up often, but he did look a lot better against these same Reds in San Diego his last time out on May 1, when he went six innings with two runs allowed and a season-high nine strikeouts. It's a very favorable matchup, as the Reds rank 28th out of 30 teams with a .652 OPS, but Musgrove will still be a shaky option for fantasy lineups because of the fact that he didn't go on a minor-league rehab assignment before returning. He enters the day 3-3 with a bloated 6.37 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 36 K's in 41 innings over eight starts.Source: MLB.com
1 hour agoFree-agent wide receiver Matt Landers has signed with the Cleveland Browns, the team announced on Tuesday. Landers went undrafted in the class of 2023 last year after two seasons at Georgia, one season at Toledo, and one season at Arkansas. The 24-year-old failed to make an impact at Georgia but racked up 47 receptions for 901 yards and eight touchdowns in his senior season for the Razorbacks. At 6'4", Landers has sub-4.4 speed and solid burst, but he could not stick on the Seattle Seahawks or Carolina Panthers' roster last season. He's likely a longshot to make Cleveland's roster, but the team continues to collect wide receiver flyers in hopes of finding an adequate WR2 behind Amari Cooper.Source: NFL.com
2 hours agoFrom a statistical perspective, Lucas Glover couldn't be more ready for a strong week at Colonial. Aside from dodgy putting, he checks all the boxes for what works around this track: accurate tee balls (sixth in driving accuracy: 74.92%), solid approach play from shorter distances (10th in approaches outside of 100 yards), and a great short game (11th in strokes gained around the green: 0.419). As most golfers know, putting can come and go like a breeze, but even as bad as it's been in spurts this season, Glover has been one of the more consistent cut-makers on the planet. Consider him as safe of a pick as any in the $9k range on FanDuel.Source: PGA Tour
2 hours agoNew York Mets third baseman Brett Baty and outfielder Harrison Bader are out of the lineup on Tuesday against the Cleveland Guardians. Baty went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Monday and is now hitting just .228 (31-for-136) with three homers and 15 RBI this year. The 24-year-old has already lost some playing time at the hot corner to Mark Vientos, and he could be on the bench more often moving forward if he doesn't start hitting soon. It appears to be just a normal day off for Bader, who is batting a solid .281/.322/.341 in 135 at-bats with a homer, 12 RBI and six stolen bases for the Mets. Vientos is at third base and is batting seventh on Tuesday, with Tyrone Taylor in center field and hitting fifth against Guardians right-handed spot starter Xzavion Curry.Source: MLB.com - Anthony DiComo
2 hours agoAtlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson (ankle) will be limited throughout the team's organized team activities while dealing with an ankle injury. However, he's expected to be ready to go for training camp, which begins in late July. At this point in the offseason, organizations are careful with minor bumps and bruises, so his injury should not affect his fantasy football value -- barring a setback. After being the highest running back drafted since Saquon Barkley in 2018, Robinson enjoyed a solid rookie campaign. He rushed 214 times for 976 yards and four touchdowns to go along with 58 receptions for 487 yards and four more scores. Fantasy managers are expecting him to take the next step in 2024 with quarterback Kirk Cousins running the Atlanta offense, so he's a consensus first-round pick in all formats.Source: NFL.com
2 hours agoCleveland Guardians rookie outfielder Johnathan Rodriguez is making his major-league debut on Tuesday against the visiting New York Mets and right-hander Adrian Houser, starting in right field and batting seventh. Rodriguez enters the starting lineup in Cleveland for the first time after being called up from Triple-A Columbus on Monday. The 24-year-old could see a decent amount of at-bats for the Guardians until Steven Kwan (hamstring) is able to return from the injured list, making him worth a look off the waiver wire in AL-only leagues. MLB Pipeline has Rodriguez ranked as the team's No. 16 prospect. The Puerto Rican outfielder earned his call-up by hitting .276/.389/.449 with an .838 OPS, seven homers, 28 RBI and four steals in 43 games for Columbus.Source: Cleveland Guardians
2 hours agoCleveland Guardians right-hander Xzavion Curry was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to make a spot start on Tuesday against the visiting New York Mets after the team placed right-hander Carlos Carrasco (neck) on the 15-day injured list. Curry may not be a very attractive streamer in fantasy on Tuesday, but he did toss five scoreless innings with one walk and three strikeouts in a no-decision in his only start of the year for the Guardians on April 15 against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The 25-year-old has gone 0-5 with an 8.79 ERA and 1.81 WHIP with 14 walks and 27 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings over seven outings (six starts) for Columbus, though, which explains why he'll be an extremely volatile deep-league streamer on Tuesday despite the good matchup. If Curry pitches well on Tuesday, he could stick around in Cleveland's rotation until Carrasco returns.Source: New York Post - Mike Puma
2 hours agoOn Tuesday, Boston Celtics forward Xavier Tillman Sr. (personal) was ruled out for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Pacers. Both Tillman and Kristaps Porzingis (calf) are listed as unavailable. The 25-year-old's absence won't impact DFS play, as he has only seen action in three of 10 Celtics' postseason games, averaging 1.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.3 blocks, and 0.7 steals in 8.3 minutes per contest.Source: NBA Injury Report
