Tyrese Maxey Downgraded To Questionable
2 weeks agoPhiladelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey (illness) was not at Monday's morning shootaround, and he's been downgraded to questionable to play in Game 2 against the New York Knicks. After logging a game-high 33 points in 41 minutes in Saturday's Game 1 loss, Maxey is a late addition to the injury report due to an illness. If the All-Star guard doesn't suit up, Philly's offense would rely on Joel Embiid (knee) for the bulk of the scoring and playmaking. Based on his usage in the first game of this first-round series, Nicolas Batum would appear to be the most likely candidate to enter the starting lineup after leading the reserves in minutes (25) on Saturday. If head coach Nick Nurse opts to go small, however, it's worth noting Cameron Payne averaged 13.8 points, 4.3 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 2.3 three-pointers in eight regular-season games for the Sixers without Maxey.
