2 days agoPhiladelphia Flyers right wing Bobby Brink will re-enter the lineup for Tuesday's matchup against Boston. The 23-year-old has sat out three games as a healthy scratch. Brink was taken out of the lineup despite being among the team's most productive players. He has tallied four points (one goal, three assists) in six appearances this season. Brink will jump on the third line and skate next to Joel Farabee and Scott Laughton. Nicolas Deslauriers exits the lineup to make room for him.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Jackie Spiegel

2 days agoMontreal Canadiens winger Juraj Slafkovsky (upper body) will be back in action against Seattle on Tuesday. Slafkovsky has been out for three games with an upper-body injury. It was initially reported that Slafkovsky had hurt his shoulder, but he denied this Tuesday morning, calling his upper-body ailment simply a "weird injury." The 20-year-old has had a productive start to the campaign, averaging a point per contest in six outings. He sits on one goal and five assists with seven shots. Despite Slafkovsky's return, Kirby Dach will maintain a top-line role versus the Kraken. Slafkovsky will join Alex Newhook and Joel Armia on the second line.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Stu Cowan

2 days agoNew York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov (upper body) will miss a second consecutive game on Tuesday versus Anaheim. He remains day-to-day with an upper-body injury. The Russian rearguard has collected two assists in seven games this season with 10 shots, 19 blocks, and 14 hits. Dennis Cholowski has replaced Romanov in the lineup. Cholowski scored on Saturday in his season debut against Florida. However, he's only logging third-pairing minutes in defense, limiting his fantasy appeal. Mike Reilly has moved up to the first pairing. He hasn't yet generated any offense this season, going scoreless with 11 shots on goal.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Stefen Rosner

2 days agoMinnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon (lower body) will return from a six-game absence on Tuesday versus Pittsburgh. Spurgeon was hurt just two games into the season, but the team has coped well with his absence, taking a 5-1-2 record to the PPG Paints Arena. The Wild captain will link up with Jonas Brodin on the first defensive pairing and is set to skate on the second power-play unit, replacing Declan Chisholm in the lineup. Before getting hurt, Spurgeon logged one assist, two shots, six blocks, and four hits in two games.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Michael Russo

2 days agoPittsburgh Penguins right wing Bryan Rust (lower body) will not be in the lineup on Tuesday against Minnesota and has been labeled as week-to-week. Rust suffered a lower-body injury on Saturday against Vancouver. He had just hit some form lately, with two goals in three games. The 32-year-old sits on four points (three goals, one assist) in eight games for the season. With Rust unavailable, Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby skated on the same line in Monday's practice, with Rickard Rakell completing the top trio. Kevin Hayes looks set to work as the second-line center on Tuesday, flanked by Anthony Beauvillier and Jesse Puljujarvi.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Michelle Crechiolo

2 days agoSan Jose Sharks forward Mikael Granlund produced three points as the team finally earned its first win of the season on Monday, beating Utah 5-4 in overtime. Granlund, who is working as the first-line center during Macklin Celebrini's (hip) absence, finished with one goal and two assists. All of his points came after the Sharks had fallen 4-1 behind ahead of the third period. San Jose appears to be heading toward another miserable campaign, but Granlund has still found a lot of success on a struggling team. He has scored in four consecutive games and sits on a six-game point streak. The 32-year-old boasts five goals and eight assists for the season with 10 games played.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 days agoVegas Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill recorded his first shutout of the season in Monday's 5-0 win over Calgary. The 28-year-old probably picked up the easiest shutout of his career, as Hill needed to make only 16 saves. Hill had allowed three or more goals in each of his first five starts of the year, meaning his goals-against average still stands at a disappointing 3.20. His .878 save percentage also needs work. However, Hill carries a 4-2-0 record, and it should be only a matter of time before his other numbers improve.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 days agoWinnipeg Jets left wing Kyle Connor registered a third consecutive multi-point outing in Monday's 6-4 loss to Toronto. He had a hand in all of the team's goals, posting a pair of power-play tallies and delivering two assists. Connor extended his season-opening point streak to nine games, breaking Blake Wheeler's franchise record. He has totaled eight goals and six assists during the very productive start. Connor faces his home state Red Wings in the next matchup. The Jets winger has averaged over a point per game against Detroit in his career, recording seven goals and six assists in 12 games.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 days agoToronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares grabbed his 12th career hat trick as the team delivered Winnipeg its first defeat of the season on Monday. Tavares opened and finished the scoring in a 6-4 road win while leading the team with seven shots. The veteran star had been held goalless since he opened the campaign with two markers in three games. He's now on five goals and four assists for the season through nine outings. Tavares has steadily picked up steam and is riding a five-game point streak following Monday's outing. He skated with Max Pacioretty and William Nylander against the Jets, and it's safe to assume the trio will stick together for a bit.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

2 days agoColorado Avalanche forward Ross Colton (lower body) is expected to be out for a while. Colton appeared to have injured his leg while blocking a shot in Monday's matchup against Chicago. After the game, the 28-year-old was seen in a walking boot, and Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said that Colton will miss "some time." Colton has been on fire to start the season, scoring a team-high eight goals and totaling nine points in 10 games. He has been utilized on the top line and on the first power-play unit. Nikolai Kovalenko might now get another look next to Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Colleen Flynn

2 days agoEdmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid (lower body) will miss the rest of the team's road trip after getting hurt on Monday versus Columbus. The Oilers captain was injured on his first shift against the Blue Jackets and has returned to Edmonton to get evaluated for a lower-body injury. The team hit the halfway point of its four-game road trip on Monday and has two more stops to come, starting with Thursday's matchup against Nashville. McDavid has been slow out the gate this season but still averages a point per game through 10 outings with three goals and seven assists. Adam Henrique could get a chance to rejoin the top six in McDavid's absence, with Leon Draisaitl taking over as the first-line center.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Sportsnet

3 days agoColorado Avalanche goaltender Alexandar Georgiev will make his sixth start of the campaign on Monday versus Chicago. Georgiev has had an awful beginning to the season, but he will get a chance to grab a second consecutive victory in a favorable matchup. The Russian netminder beat Anaheim in his last outing 4-3 in overtime with 19 saves to improve to 1-3-0. Georgiev has led the league in wins in back-to-back years, but his goals-against average for this season stands at an ugly 4.99 ahead of Monday's action. Additionally, he has registered a poor .811 save percentage. Georgiev's struggles have allowed Justus Annunen to shine. He won a fourth consecutive start on Sunday with a 26-save effort versus Ottawa. Annunen will likely return to the crease for the next game.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: Aarif Deen

3 days agoMinnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon (lower body) practiced fully on Monday and could be ready to rejoin the lineup in Tuesday's matchup against Pittsburgh. The Wild captain has been on the shelf for the past six games with a lower-body injury. Brock Faber has logged massive minutes during Spurgeon's absence, with the rest of the blue line stepping up as well. Spurgeon skated with Jonas Brodin on the first defensive pairing on Monday. Brodin has previously been paired with Zach Bogosian, who has to settle for a lesser role once Spurgeon is back in the lineup.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: NHL.com

3 days agoPittsburgh Penguins right wing Bryan Rust (lower body) sat out Monday's practice. He sustained a lower-body injury on Saturday versus Vancouver and is still getting evaluated. Rust has tallied three goals and four points in eight outings this season. He skated on the second line with Evgeni Malkin at the weekend, but Malkin was moved to the first line in Monday's practice. The Penguins have dropped five games in a row and look set to play Malkin and Sidney Crosby together on the same line to stop the rot on Tuesday versus Minnesota.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: NHL.com

3 days agoCarolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen (lower body) will miss Monday's contest against Vancouver. He was hurt in Saturday's 4-1 triumph over Seattle. Andersen collected his third consecutive win at the weekend, improving to 3-1-0 for the year. He has allowed 1.49 goals with a .941 save percentage. The team will go with Pyotr Kochetkov between the sticks on Monday, with Spencer Martin, who was summoned from the AHL, working as his backup. Kochetkov boasts a decent 2-1-0 record with a 2.70 goals-against average but has registered a lowly .896 save percentage this season. It could be a struggle for him against a team that averages 3.43 goals per game.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBallerSource: NHL.com
