1 month agoTampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mikhail Sergachev skated for the first time since suffering a season-ending leg injury on Monday. The 25-year-old suffered his injury in a Feb. 8 contest against the New York Rangers and will not return this season. Sergachev skated in a track suit. "Great to be back on the ice," the Russian said in an Instagram post on Monday. He has tallied two goals and 19 points across 34 games on the season, one year after breaking out with 10 goals and a career-high 64 points across 79 games in the 2022-23 campaign. 1 month agoCalgary Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf will be in goal for the team's contest with the visiting Washington Capitals on Monday. The 22-year-old will be making his 10th appearance (eighth start) of the season for the Flames, posting a 3.14 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage in that time. However, he has had a big season with the American Hockey League's Calgary Wranglers, working to a 2.43 GAA and a .923 Sv% across 35 contests, posting a 20-11-3 record in the process. 1 month agoCarolina Hurricanes defenseman Dmitry Orlov tied a career-high with four points in Sunday's 7-2 win over Ottawa. He recorded two goals and two assists, starting the work with the first tally of the game. Orlov added a power-play assist to his tally early in the second period and then wrapped up the second four-point effort of his career with a goal and an assist in the third. The Russian rearguard definitely isn't known for his consistency on the attacking end, but he's made strides offensively lately to put together a three-game point streak. Orlov has collected six points during the streak, matching the output of his previous 37 appearances. 1 month agoWinnipeg Jets winger Tyler Toffoli tallied two goals and an assist as the team rolled over Columbus 6-1 on Sunday. Following a tight one-goal opening period, Toffoli had a goal and an assist inside the first 10 minutes of the second frame to set the Jets on their way. He completed his three-point outing with the game's final goal a few minutes from the end. This was Toffoli's second multi-point effort in a row after he finished Friday's 6-0 win over Anaheim with two goals. He's become only the third player in franchise history to score four goals in his first four appearances with the team. The 31-year-old looks like a superb fit in Winnipeg, and fantasy managers should get a lot of value out of him over the final few weeks of the season. 1 month agoDetroit Red Wings winger Lucas Raymond scored twice with three shots in Sunday's 6-3 defeat against Pittsburgh. Entering the contest with a three-game goal streak, Raymond extended the run with a strike at the 15:39 mark in the first period and added a second goal late in the game. The latter was Raymond's third power-play goal in four games. Raymond has enjoyed a solid bounce-back campaign with 57 points (22 goals, 35 assists) in 68 outings. He has matched his career high with the four-game goal-scoring streak and can set a new mark in a very favorable matchup, as Detroit is set to meet the Blue Jackets and their leaky defense on Tuesday.Source: ESPN
1 month agoNew York Islanders center Bo Horvat scored two goals on Sunday against the Rangers but was unable to save the team from a 5-2 loss in this season's second Battle of New York. Horvat gave his team the lead in the first period with a short-handed tally and knotted the score at two in the second with an even-strength goal, but the Islanders needed a lot more scoring on Sunday to match their neighbors. Patrick Roy's team is struggling to keep pace in the battle for a playoff spot, but Horvat definitely isn't to blame for this. He's had six goals in the last seven contests and already boasts four multi-point games for the month. It's been a strong first full campaign for the 28-year-old with the team, as Horvat is topping the Islanders' goals list with 29 markers and boasts 61 points in 66 games.Source: ESPN
1 month agoSt. Louis Blues forward Pavel Buchnevich contributed on three goals in Sunday's 4-2 victory over Anaheim, skating away with a hat trick of assists. Buchnevich's playmaking helped St. Louis to put up a power-play clinic in the third period as the team scored three goals with the man advantage. With the performance, Buchnevich broke an offensive slump, as he had collected only one point in his previous eight appearances this month. His recent form has been a disappointment, but Buchnevich's overall play in 2023-24 will have made quite a few fantasy managers happy. 1 month agoNew York Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren suffered an apparent leg injury in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Islanders. He took an awkward fall in the second period following a hit from Islanders forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau and couldn't put weight on his left leg. The hardworking blue-liner had an assist in 13.06 minutes of action before exiting the game. It looks like Lindgren is facing another spell on the sidelines after previously missing two games this season. He has totaled an underwhelming 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) in 66 appearances, but Lindgren's impact defensively is hugely important. The 26-year-old leads all defensemen on the team with a plus-19 rating and has registered 100 hits and 88 blocks.Source: ESPN
1 month agoColumbus Blue Jackets winger Alexander Nylander continued his prolific start to life in Ohio with a three-point performance in Saturday's 4-2 win over San Jose. He had a goal and an assist in the second period and also procured an empty-net goal late in the game. The younger brother of Toronto's All-Star William Nylander is now averaging exactly a point per game through his first 11 outings as a Blue Jacket. Eight of the points have come via goals. 1 month agoCarolina Hurricanes center Sebastian Aho recorded two goals and one assist as the team gave Toronto only its fourth defeat in 16 games on Saturday. Carolina won 5-4 in a shootout after Aho's goals late in the third period pushed the game past regulation. Two of Aho's three points came in power-play situations. Aho's scoring has been quite inconsistent in recent months, but he will still be delighted with his work, as the Finnish forward is on track for a career year. He registered a hat trick of assists as Philadelphia got outgunned 6-5. Two of the assists came in the third period, which featured seven goals by the teams. Tipped has started to work on a scoring streak lately and boasts points from three consecutive games. He's looking to get to 50 points for the first time in his career and is also flirting with a 30-goal campaign. The 25-year-old is currently on 24 goals and 43 points with 64 games played. 1 month agoTampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos stretched his point streak to five games with a big effort on Saturday, finishing a 5-3 victory over Florida with two goals and two assists. Stamkos opened the scoring just 20 seconds into the game and had a power-play goal in the second period. The Lightning captain matched his season high with the four-point effort. After slumping in February and collecting only four points in 12 games, Stamkos has kicked into gear again and is chasing his third consecutive 30-goal season. 1 month agoArizona Coyotes forward Nick Schmaltz had a season-high three assists as the team cruised to a 4-1 victory over New Jersey on Saturday. He collected his first helper when J.J. Moser opened the scoring 9:37 into the first period, added a power-play assist on Dylan Guenther's first-period goal, and completed the three-point outing with an assist on Clayton Keller's empty netter late in the game. Schmaltz has been fantastic this month, recording 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in nine games. He scored twice and had three assists, bagging two of the points with the man advantage. This was Panarin's fourth five-point effort with the Rangers, and only Rod Gilbert (6) has had more such games. The Russian star is closing in on his first 100-point campaign, as Panarin has posted a career-high 38 goals and 55 assists in 67 outings. Panarin will look to build on his Saturday performance on Sunday against the Islanders, who gave up three points to the prolific winger in this season's only previous Battle of New York.Source: ESPN

He completed the three-goal game with a power-play marker with only 24 seconds left in overtime. The Senators captain had two power-play goals in total in the contest. Ottawa's season has been a disappointment, but you can't blame Tkachuk for it.
