6 months agoMatt Frevola (11-4-1) had his three-fight win streak snapped on Saturday as he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Benoit Saint-Denis. Frevola started out strong as he went to his wrestling and went 2-for-2 on takedowns. However, he couldn't keep Saint-Denis down, and after the Frenchman got up for the second time, he landed a head kick that dropped Frevola. Saint-Denis only had to land one punch before the ref stepped in. In the loss, Frevola was outstruck 10-to-7 and is now 5-4-1 in the UFC and has been knocked out three times. Saint-Denis entered the fight as a betting favorite, despite fighting a ranked opponent. Early on, Frevola looked to wrestle the Frenchman as the American went 2-for-2 on takedowns but Saint-Denis was able to get back to his feet. Once he returned standing, Saint-Denis landed a perfectly timed head kick that dropped Frevola, and after the Frenchman added some ground-and-pound shots, the ref stepped in. 6 months agoMackenzie Dern entered UFC 295 as a sizeable favorite but lost by second-round knockout to former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade. Dern was having some success on the fete in the first round but struggled to get it down to the mat as she went 0-for-3 on takedown attempts in the opening round. Then, with less than 30 seconds left in the round, Andrade dropped her to steal the round. In the second round, Dern went 0-for-1 on takedown attempts and was getting pieced up by Andrade. The Brazilian ended up knocking Dern down three more times in the second round, which forced the ref to stop the fight. Dern was officially outstruck 53-to-50 in the fight, but went 0-for-4 on takedowns and was knocked down four times in the loss. With the loss, Dern is now 8-4 in the UFC and 2-3 in her last five fights.Source: UFC
6 months agoSergei Pavlovich had his six-fight win streak snapped in the co-main event of UFC 295 on Saturday. Pavlovich was taking on Tom Aspinall for the interim heavyweight title. Right when the fight started, Pavlovich landed a big shot that appeared to have Aspinall hurt. However, the Russian failed to land another strike as Aspinall landed a nice combo that dropped Pavlovich and he was finished off with ground-and-pound strikes just 69 seconds into the fight. Pavlovich dropped to 6-2 in the UFC and all eight of his fights have ended in the first round. The Russian will likely need to win another fight or two to get another crack at a UFC title.Source: UFC

Aspinall and Pavlovich took this fight on about two weeks' notice. Right away, Pavlovich landed a big shot that appeared to hurt Aspinall but the Brit was able to recover quickly. After recovering, Aspinall landed a nice combo that hurt Pavlovich and dropped him. Following Aspinall getting the knockdown, he landed some ground-and-pound shots which forced the ref to step in just 69 seconds into the fight. With the win, Aspinall is now the UFC's interim heavyweight champion and is in line to face the winner of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic, should they continue to fight.Source: UFC
