Mark Williams Listed As Questionable Friday
8 months agoCharlotte Hornets center Mark Williams (back) is questionable for Friday versus the Toronto Raptors. A lower-back contusion held Williams to the seats for Wednesday's 111-100 defeat to the Chicago Bulls for the first time this season. The 21-year-old second-year big man is building on his 2022-23 second-half surge in the aftermath of last year's Mason Plumlee trade, averaging 13.2 points on 65.3% field-goal shooting, 10.1 boards, and 1.8 combined steals plus blocks in 27.1 minutes covering 18 games this year. Fill-in interior presence Nick Richards denied three shots and gobbled up 11 rebounds during a season-high 27 minutes for head coach Steve Clifford amidst Williams' absence on Wednesday. Richards would be an adequate streaming choice for swats and boards if Williams can't suit up again on Friday against Toronto, but P.J. Washington is also a threat to steal some minutes as a small-ball five.
