Marcus Smart Ditches Walking Boot
5 months agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Marcus Smart (foot) was seen at Wednesday morning's shootaround without a walking boot. "I'm getting there", Smart said of his progress as he works his way back from a sprained left foot. Memphis announced on Nov. 17 that Smart was expected to be sidelined for three-to-five weeks, so he could still be some ways away from a return to game action. The 3-13 Grizzlies certainly miss Smart's defensive intensity and playmaking, losing five of their last six games. Fantasy managers should continue stashing the 29-year-old three-time All-Defensive guard, who is averaging 12.5 points, 5.0 dimes, 1.6 threes, and 2.0 steals in 29.9 minutes across 11 games. Though, it remains to be seen what type of role Smart might return to if Ja Morant (suspension), who is eligible for reinstatement for Dec. 19's game against the New Orleans Pelicans, beats him to a return.
