Is Aaron Jones Hurt or Healthy? Fantasy Football Injury Update for Week 7

Aaron Jones - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones (hip) played as he always has at a very high level, to start the season. Unfortunately, he also has struggled to stay healthy and exited his Week 5 contest after just eight touches. He played just 11 games in 2023 and was often limited due to injury issues.

He's one of the best running backs in the league when healthy and could put together a monster season if he stayed on the field consistently. That task has proven difficult for him. He did have his bye week in Week 6, so he's had time to get healthy, though.

Is Aaron Jones Hurt or Healthy, and what is his fantasy football outlook for 7?

Aaron Jones Injury Update for Fantasy Football

The former Packer was declared as "week-to-week" by Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell after their Week 5 game in London. He was also able to log a limited practice on Monday, which is reason for optimism ahead of his Week 7 game against the divisional rival Detroit Lions.

His availability for the next game likely won't be determined with certainty until the final list of inactive players, but there should be more news soon about whether he's expected to play. Fantasy managers should stay updated about this situation, but there have been good signs.

Aaron Jones Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 7

It's been a bit strange to see the Vikings usage of Jones. While his talent absolutely merits it, his injury history does not, and it hasn't taken long for it to rear its ugly head. Some players just have bad luck staying healthy, and AJ is one of them. His history of ailments is extensive and concerning, and at 29 years old, it's not going anywhere.

He's had 11 documented injuries to his right leg. Professional football is a brutal sport, and many players play until the wheels fall off. Along the way, they accrue more and more injuries and cause more damage to their ligaments, tendons, and joints. This unfortunate reality is a big reason Jones isn't having a huge season.

Minnesota would be wise to limit his usage. While the offense is much better with him on the field, they want him available for the playoffs, and it's better to have games where he has 15-20 touches than use him in a workhorse role and not have him at all some weeks.

He's still a must-start when he plays, but the role he's had could be slightly reduced to help him stay on the field more in the long term.
