Tyler Glasnow Scratched From Sunday’s Start
9 months agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (back) has been scratched from Sunday's scheduled start against the Detroit Tigers due to back spasms. Right-hander Erasmo Ramirez will take the ball on Sunday instead. Marc Topkin reports Glasnow's back "started bothering him last night", so the Rays aren't going to take any chances with their oft-injured ace. It remains to be seen what kind of absence the 29-year-old is facing, or if Glasnow could simply use a rest in between turns to get right. It's an untimely setback, anyway, as the hard-throwing right-hander was bringing a 2.08 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 63:9 K:BB over his last seven starts (43.1 innings) into Sunday's favorable tilt. Consider Glasnow day-to-day until we know more.
