Tyler Glasnow 2024 Outlook: Not Enough Quantity to Justify the Price
4 months agoTyler Glasnow's 10-7 record, 3.53 ERA, and 2.75 xFIP would be the highlight of nearly any team's offseason, but he's an afterthought after the Dodgers acquired Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Glasnow dominated opposing hitters with a 33.4 K% and 7.6 BB% last season, and he has the arsenal to keep it up. His fastball offered a 10.8 SwStr% and 62 Zone%, and Glasnow supplements it with two put-away pitches: a slider (19.7 SwStr%, 51.5 Zone%, 32.3% chase) and a curve (22.4 SwStr%, 26.4 Zone%, 35.9% chase). In fantasy, Glasnow's problem has always been quantity. He didn't debut until late May following elbow surgery to repair a torn UCL in August 2021 and still set a personal best with 120 IP. The Dodgers haven't excelled with pitcher health and seem likely to want to save some bullets for the postseason, so Glasnow is unlikely to approach 150 IP in 2024. Considering Glasnow's ADP of 44.89, you're likely better off going with more durable arms such as George Kirby (41.63) or Pablo Lopez (45.72) instead.
