Triston Casas Smacks First Homer This Spring
2 months agoBoston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas launched his first home run of the spring during Wednesday's 9-4 Grapefruit League win over the division-rival New York Yankees, going 2-for-3 with a solo homer in the fourth inning. After missing some time with an illness to begin spring training, Casas is now batting 3-for-23 (.130) overall. The 24-year-old left-handed slugger and former first-round pick is set to operate as Boston's everyday first baseman following Justin Turner's offseason departure to the Toronto Blue Jays, and he's being drafted as a top-10 fantasy option at the cold corner after rolling to 2023's finish line with a .319/.417/.622 triple-slash line, 15 blasts, and 38 RBI over his closing 50 games. His placement in the BoSox' lineup may not be ideal to start the campaign, but some improved hitting could help Casas work his way up the order.
