Sonny Gray Tosses Seven Strong Innings For Seventh Win
9 months agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray threw seven one-run innings on six hits with four strikeouts for his seventh win of the year in Friday's start versus the Texas Rangers. The 33-year-old was spotted to an early four-run advantage and mostly sailed besides a second-inning Mitch Garver solo shot. With that, Gray gave up his sixth home run of the year, so Garrett Richards will remain the only pitcher to have held opponents to five homers across a full season since MLB expanded to 30 teams in 1998. Gray still owns an MLB-best 0.36 HR/9 and 2.71 FIP covering 150 frames on the campaign, so fantasy managers won't be complaining. The three-time All-Star is penciled in for Wednesday's start against the Cleveland Guardians, who have hit fewer bombs than any other team by a wide margin this year.
