Sonny Gray Seeks To Solve Cardinals Woes On Thursday
9 months agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Sonny Gray toes the rubber for Thursday's start against the St. Louis Cardinals. The 33-year-old pitched wonderfully earlier in the spring, but has shown some vulnerability via a 6.08 ERA covering his last four starts (23.2 innings). Gray has managed consecutive quality starts over this period, but perhaps faces a tough draw on Thursday. From the right-hander's days with the Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central, Gray holds a ghastly 8.77 ERA with 25 strikeouts over 25.2 innings against St. Louis since 2020. The three-time All-Star sees a decent setup nonetheless while opposing rookie left-hander Matthew Liberatore and an erratic Cardinals offense averaging just 3.0 runs over their prior six contests. Gray signifies a rock-solid fantasy play all around while possessing an MLB-best 0.3 home runs per nine innings this year.
