Ramon Laureano Hurts Thumb, Exits Saturday’s Game
8 months agoCleveland Guardians outfielder Ramon Laureano (finger) was removed from Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels due to a jammed left thumb. The 29-year-old got his glove hand caught on the right-field wall while trying to make a play on a Randal Grichuk home run. He went 0-for-2 in the 6-2 defeat before exiting and was substituted for Will Brennan. Guardians manager Terry Francona said after contest that Laureano was doing much better than it appeared when he departed, and that he should be "OK". Laureano hasn't found better luck away from the Oakland Athletics, slashing .234/.318/.362 with two home runs, 12 RBI, and 11 runs scored in 107 trips to the plate since joining Cleveland. Brennan, who's batting .417 (20-for-48) with four stolen bases in his last 15 games, should play more frequently if Laureano needs time off.
