3 days agoBuffalo Sabres right wing Nicolas Aube-Kubel (lower body) will rejoin the action on Monday versus Florida. He has been unavailable since sustaining a lower-body injury in Buffalo's season opener on Oct. 4. Aube-Kubel has notched 78 points (31 goals, 47 assists) in 282 career appearances. While he has struggled to be a consistent offensive threat, he may have a greater impact on Monday, as the 28-year-old is expected to skate on the second line. Aube-Kubel will be accompanied by talented youngsters Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn.Source: ESPN
3 days agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe signed a five-year extension on Monday. He will earn $22.55 million with the deal. McCabe's current contract is worth $16 million across four years. The 31-year-old is ranked second on the team in blocks and hits this season, with 17 and 19, respectively. Offensively, he has contributed three assists with seven shots on goal. Last season, McCabe notched a career-high 28 points (eight goals, 20 assists) in 73 games while delivering 219 hits and blocking 129 shots. McCabe's two-way ability makes him a useful fantasy piece in many formats.Source: ESPN
3 days agoFlorida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (lower body) will return to action on Monday versus Buffalo. The Panthers captain has been out for eight games with a lower-body injury. He makes his comeback at a good time, as Florida is set to travel to his native Finland for a couple of games later in the week. Barkov goes back to the top line, bumping Sam Bennett to the second. Anton Lundell heads to the third line, losing a large chunk of his fantasy value. However, he's been very productive in recent games and could still make noise in a favorable matchup on Monday.Source: ESPN
3 days agoPhiladelphia Flyers defenseman Travis Sanheim enjoyed a big offensive outing in Sunday's clash with Montreal, posting two goals and one assist in a 4-3 loss. This was Sanheim's fourth three-point effort of his career. The 28-year-old has had a very slow start to the campaign at the attacking end, but he appears to have found his stride lately, posting all five of his points this season in the past four games. Sanheim has quickly become the team's scoring leader among defensemen. He also finished last season at the top of the pile with a career-high 44 points (10 goals, 34 assists) in 81 outings.Source: ESPN
3 days agoNew Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton had a two-assist night as the team beat Anaheim 6-2 on Sunday. Hamilton collected his first helper on a power-play goal by Stefan Noesen in the second period, which ended up as the game-winning marker, and he tallied his second assist when Nico Hischier scored his league-leading ninth goal of the campaign early in the third. Last season, Hamilton was limited to only 20 appearances due to injury, and he hasn't been very productive to start the 2024-25 campaign. However, the talented blue-liner has been back to his best lately, collecting all six of his points this season across the last six games. Four of the points have come in power-play situations. Hamilton and the Devils take on Vancouver next but then play against two teams with poor penalty-killing records: Calgary and Edmonton.Source: ESPN
3 days agoEdmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl put together his first three-point effort of the season on Sunday, finishing a 3-2 overtime victory against Detroit with two goals and an assist. Draisaitl, who celebrated his 29th birthday on Sunday, scored Edmonton's first and last goal, adding an assist to Evan Bouchard between the two strikes. Draisaitl's dominant performance included a game-high seven shots on goal. With nine games played, Draisaitl sits on 10 points (six goals, four assists), but the 2020 Art Ross Trophy winner should still have a lot of room for improvement. He will enter Monday's juicy matchup against the Blue Jackets and their leaky defense with a six-game point streak.Source: ESPN
3 days agoColorado Avalanche center Casey Mittelstadt served up three assists in Sunday's 5-4 win over Ottawa. He had an assist in each period, making it back-to-back three-point games for himself. Mittelstadt has been very productive on the second line, posting seven goals and 12 points in nine games. However, he's also had a tough time on the defensive side of things, as Mittelstadt carries a minus-four rating for the season. Still, he's become a very useful fantasy asset and could have another big night on Monday when Colorado faces the hapless Blackhawks, who are giving up 3.44 goals per game.Source: ESPN
3 days agoOttawa Senators forward Claude Giroux kept his hot scoring run going with two goals in Sunday's 5-4 loss to Colorado. Giroux was a man on a mission all night, producing a game-high seven shots on goal, and he was finally rewarded for his efforts in the closing stages of the game. The veteran was kept off the score sheet in the first couple of games of the season, but he has put together a six-game point streak with five goals and four assists since then. Giroux has only had two longer point streaks since 2020-21.Source: ESPN
3 days agoSan Jose Sharks center Ty Dellandrea (upper body) will not be available for Monday's contest against Utah. Per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now, Dellandrea is nursing an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day. Dellandrea has filled a bottom-six role in San Jose, averaging 12:33 of ice time. He's notched one goal in nine appearances while delivering 24 hits and winning 52.9 percent of his faceoffs. Givani Smith is expected to fill in for Dellandrea on Monday. So far this season, Smith has been limited to one appearance, logging 7:59 of action in an 8-3 loss to Winnipeg on Oct. 18. He produced a game-high four hits in the contest with one block. On the offensive end, Smith has picked up only 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in 156 career games.Source: Sheng Peng
3 days agoNew Jersey Devils center Curtis Lazar (lower body) is expected to be out for a while. Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe has said that Lazar will miss "some time" after he was hurt in Sunday's 6-2 win over Anaheim. Lazar scored his first goal of the season just a few days ago and has tallied two points in 12 games while averaging 10:33 of ice time on the fourth line. His injury allows Nathan Bastian to rejoin the lineup. Bastian has also seen only limited action on the fourth line, but he's been a bit more productive offensively, scoring two goals and four points in 10 appearances.Source: Amanda Stein
4 days agoPhiladelphia Flyers defenseman Emil Andrae will make his season debut on Sunday versus Montreal. Philadelphia summoned him from the minor on Saturday, and Andrae will take Egor Zamula's spot on the backline. This will be only his fifth career game in the NHL. Andrae didn't register any points in his first four outings last season. However, he tallied 32 points (five goals, 27 assists) in 61 AHL appearances in 2023-24 and has previously been productive offensively while playing in Europe.Source: Jordan Hall
4 days agoDetroit Red Wings defenseman Erik Gustafsson will come out of the lineup for Sunday's contest against Edmonton. He will be a healthy scratch for the third time this season. The Red Wings brought Gustafsson in on a two-year, $4 million contract this offseason to add some offense to the blue line, but the Swedish rearguard has been a disappointment so far. Despite averaging over three minutes of power-play time (3:19), Gustafsson has only two assists with 10 shots in six games for the season. Justin Holl also takes a seat on Sunday, with Olli Maatta and Albert Johansson drafted into the lineup.Source: Daniella Bruce
4 days agoMontreal Canadiens defenseman Kaiden Guhle (upper body) has been placed on Injured Reserve ahead of Sunday's battle against Philadelphia. He will miss a fourth consecutive game on Sunday. Guhle opened the campaign in impressive form, recording four points (one goal, three assists) in five games with 20 blocks and seven hits. Despite missing a week of action, Guhle remains among Montreal's leading shot-blockers. With Justin Barron (upper body) joining Guhle on the shelf, Logan Mailloux and Arber Xhekaj have entered the lineup. Xhekaj is a good source for hits, but their overall fantasy value is very limited.Source: Around The Horn Hockey
4 days agoOttawa Senators center Shane Pinto (undisclosed) will be out week-to-week. He skipped his first game of the season Friday night versus Vegas, and it's now clear that the Senators will have to face several more games without him. Pinto has worked as the team's third-line center, posting three points (one goal, two assists) in six games. Ridly Greig shifted to center on the line against the Golden Knights, while Cole Reinhardt entered the lineup. Reinhardt made an instant impact with an assist just minutes into the game, but he played a very limited role and isn't a viable fantasy option.Source: Steve Warne
4 days agoColorado Avalanche left wing Jonathan Drouin (upper body) is on track to rejoin the lineup soon. He's been out since getting hurt in the season opener on Oct. 9, but Drouin is now considered day-to-day. According to the Denver Gazette's Evan Rawal, Drouin is still dealing with some pain, but once he gets clearance, he will jump back into the lineup. Colorado hasn't exactly struggled offensively, scoring 3.63 goals per game, but Drouin would be a valuable addition since several forwards remain unavailable. The Avalanche start a run of three games in four nights on Sunday with a matchup against Ottawa.Source: Evan Rawal
