3 hours agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso walked three times in Sunday's 4-2 win against the St. Louis Cardinals. Alonso had a light day while showing his plate discipline, going 0-for-2 with three walks and one strikeout. It wasn't the best showing over the weekend against St. Louis, as he went 1-for-10 with three walks and three strikeouts, but he did add on his eighth homer on Saturday, which was his 200th career blast. The 29-year-old is slashing .248/.336/.505 with three doubles, 14 RBI, 20 runs, eight homers, 12 walks and 23 strikeouts for the season. The Mets will kick off Monday with a prime matchup versus the Chicago Cubs, starting a four-game series. Fantasy managers should continue to start Alonso in all leagues.Source: ESPN.com
4 hours agoColorado Rockies shortstop/outfield prospect Sterlin Thompson went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI and a solo home run. Thompson is now hitting .245 with seven RBI and a stolen base over his first 73 at-bats. Thompson, 22, is a consensus Top-100 prospect and joins Yanquiel Fernandez, Jordan Beck and Zac Veen in what is a potentially strong outfield for the Rockies. Thompson swings from the left side with good pitch recognition and uses the whole field to make contact. He won't be the biggest power hitter, but playing half his games at Coors Field will help with that. Thompson has been playing outfield of late, but can also play the middle of the field. He is unlikely to make an impact in 2024, but he is worth a look for dynasty managers.Source: Milb.com
5 hours agoTampa Bay Rays third base prospect Junior Caminero continues to dominate Triple-A pitching and went 4-for-5 with three RBI and two homers in Sunday's contest for Triple-A Durham. Caminero is now hitting .313 with four homers and 12 RBI in just 41 at-bats. Despite being sideling with a quad injury earlier in the season, Caminero hasn't skipped a beat and continues to dominate as arguably the top prospect in the game. The money savvy Rays are beginning to run out of excuses for keeping Caminero on the farm and fantasy managers await the day that they decide to promote the young budding star. Caminero should be rostered in all formats with his ability to make good contact with strong power.Source: Milb.com
5 hours agoTampa Bay Rays pitching prospect Taj Bradley (pectoral) did not miss a beat in his first rehab start on Sunday for Triple-A Durham. Bradley tossed five no-hit innings and allowed one walk with seven strikeouts. The 23-year-old had been sidelined since early March with a pectoral injury, but appears to be healthy now and Sunday's performance is an indication of what the right-hander can offer at the peak of his game. Bradley made his big-league debut in 2023 and had some strong performances, but also some rough performances. Overall, Bradley was 5=8 with a 5.59 ERA in 23 games (21 starts). The right-hander has the potential to be near the top of a rotation for year to come and is worth rostering in most formats with his return to the Rays around the corner.Source: Milb.com
5 hours agoArizona Diamondbacks corner infield prospect Deyvison De Los Santos went 4-for-5 with six RBI and a pair of two-run homers for Double-A Amarillo on Sunday. De Los Santos has been on fire to open the season and is now hitting a shiny .395 with seven home runs and 18 RBI in just 81 at-bats. The 20-year-old out of the Dominican Republic is too aggressive at the plate, but he counters that with top of the class exit velocities and raw power. De Los Santos spent all of 2023 in Double-A, so it would seem to reason that a promotion to Triple-A could be coming with his dominance of Double-A pitching now. It would be nice to see more plate discipline, but De Los Santos is worth rostering in dynasty leagues and would be an exciting speculative add if the Diamondbacks call his name in 2024.Source: Milb.com
5 hours agoBaltimore Orioles catcher/first base prospect Samuel Basallo went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and solo home run for Double-A Bowie on Sunday. The 19-year-old has been off to a good start this season and is hitting .253 with three homers and eight RBI over his first 79 at-bats. Even at a young age, Basello has hit the ball very hard and has elite-level exit velocities. He also has shown good plate discipline and that helps him make good contact at the dish. Defense has never been Basallo's strong suit and he has started to shift from catcher to first base this season. Dynasty managers should consider Basallo, but those in redraft leagues can avoid the young bat with it very unlikely that he will make an impact at the big-league level in 2024.Source: Milb.com
6 hours agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert was solid on the mound during Sunday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The right-hander racked up nine strikeouts while allowing two runs over 6 1/3 innings in the loss. The 26-year-old only gave up four hits on the day while walking one batter. Sadly, Gilbert took a no-decision in this game but will look to get back in the win column during his next start against the Houston Astros. Gilbert carries a stellar 2.03 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 44/9 K/BB ratio into that start.Source: MLB.com
6 hours agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Keaton Winn made easy work of the Pittsburgh Pirates during Sunday's game. The right-hander tossed six innings, allowing three hits, and one earned run in the win. Winn also stuck out five batters as he continues to be a pleasant surprise for the Giants. Winn moved to 3-3 with a 3.18 ERA as he heads into his next matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies. The right-hander will be an interesting streaming option for that game.Source: MLB.com
6 hours agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez made his return to the mound during Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The left-hander looked sharp during his return after missing time due to elbow inflammation. Valdez went five innings, struck out six batters, and walked none in the victory. He only threw 71 pitches during this game, which is around what Houston wanted. Valdez didn't have a rehab stint, so the Astros will likely ease him back to full speed.Source: MLB.com
6 hours agoMinnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda was hot at the plate during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The 25-year-old went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBI during the blowout win over the Halos. This three-hit effort has boosted his slash line to .292/.320/.500 this season. Miranda also has a pair of homers, six RBI, and a stolen base on the year. Fantasy managers might want to snag Miranda while he's hot at the plate.Source: MLB.com
6 hours agoChicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman delivered a clutch hit during Sunday's game against the Boston Red Sox. The Cubs trailed 4-1 in the eighth inning, but Tauchman had an answer for that. After two singles, Tauchman came up and blasted a three-run home run to tie up the ballgame. Unfortunately for Cubs fans, the Red Sox would win this game in the bottom of the ninth. Tauchman is slashing .294/.429/.500 with three homers, 10 RBI this season.Source: MLB.com
6 hours agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill came up clutch for his team during Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs. The right-handed slugger came up to the plate with runners at the corners and no outs in the ninth inning. O'Neill delivered a hit to left field that scored Jarren Duran and gave the Red Sox the 5-4 win. The 28-year-old is now slashing .329/.447/.729 with nine home runs and 12 RBI this season.Source: mlb.com
14 hours agoBoston Red Sox starting pitch Tanner Houck threw another gem on Sunday in a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Houck tossed 6 ⅔ innings of one-run ball, allowing just four hits while striking out nine and walking none. It is the fourth start this season where Houck hasn't walked a batter, and his strikeouts haven't suffered either. His season line looks mightily impressive, with a 1.60 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts in 39 ⅓ IP. He needs to be owned in all leagues at this point, as he looks to be truly breaking out.Source: MLB.com
14 hours agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Jose Alvarado shut down the San Diego Padres on Sunday, helping the team to an 8-6 win. Alvarado was sharp in this one, striking out a pair while not allowing a baserunner in his inning of work. The lefty remains the only Philly with more than one save and appears to be the go-to guy in the ninth inning. He should be rostered in any league where saves matter.Source: MLB.com
14 hours agoPhiladelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott put the team on his back in an 8-6 win over the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Stott finished the day going 2-for-3 with two homers and a stolen base. He also scored three runs and drove in four. It was a blistering day at the dish for the 26-year-old, who sorely needed it after a tough start to the season. The homers were just his second and third of the season and the stolen base was his fourth. Stott has 20/20 upside that was on full display Sunday, so he should be held onto in most leagues.Source: MLB.com
