Jordan Montgomery Registers First Win In Two Months
11 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery launched six scoreless innings against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday. The 30-year-old struck out six hitters, permitting merely three hits and one walk for his third win of the season and his first since April 8. It's been a bumpy ride for Montgomery this year to say the least. The former New York Yankee is tied for an NL-worst seven losses, but he's given up just three runs over his last 16 2/3 frames. Montgomery looks to expand on his satisfactory 3.88 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 72 innings for his next scheduled start on Wednesday versus the San Francisco Giants. The big southpaw pitched six scoreless innings against them earlier this year for a tough-luck loss, a running theme for Montgomery in 2023.
