Freddy Peralta Allows One Hit In 2024 Debut
4 weeks agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta dominated the New York Mets in Friday's 3-1 Opening Day victory, collecting the win and tossing six innings of one-hit ball with one walk and eight strikeouts. Other than serving up a Starling Marte home run that barely left the ballpark during the second frame, Peralta put on a nearly perfect showing in Milwaukee's regular-season opener. With Corbin Burnes in Baltimore and Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) out of action for 2024, Peralta will be relied on as the new Brewers ace this season. The 28-year-old Dominican right-hander struggled during the first half of 2023, but he amassed a strong 2.81 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 103:16 K:BB over his final 13 starts (73.2 IP) of his last campaign and hopes that momentum carries into this year. Peralta is next scheduled to get the ball against the visiting Seattle Mariners during a three-game weekend set starting next Friday.
