Frank Vogel Hiring May Entice Deandre Ayton To Stay In Phoenix?
12 months agoPhoenix Suns head coach Frank Vogel raved about center Deandre Ayton during a recent interview with Sports Illustrated. Vogel feels he can "help restore Deandre to a place of prominence" in the association and that Ayton could be "an elite, dominant, defensive center" in his system. The new Suns coach also believes there is plenty of "growth possible" offensively for the big man. The 24-year-old has averaged a double-double in each of his five seasons in the desert, but he's yet to fully unlock the potential that made him the first overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Ayton's category-league fantasy upside would be fairly high playing alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker in 2023-2024. Ayton's points-format value could rise, on the other hand, with a theoretical usage uptick in a different situation if he is ultimately traded.
