Emmanuel Clase Hangs On For 28th Save
9 months agoCleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase notched his 28th save of the year in closing out Thursday's 6-3 win over the Chicago White Sox. It wasn't all easy for the 25-year-old, who initially got two groundouts in short succession before things got a bit interesting. Oscar Colas and Gavin Sheets would then single to get the tying run to the plate, but Andrew Benintendi struck out looking on Clase's 19th pitch of the ninth inning. The flame-throwing right-hander is now tied with Felix Bautista and Jordan Romano for an AL-high 28 saves overall. After a shaky stretch earlier in the month, Clase has rattled off seven straight scoreless frames. The 2022 Reliever of the Year award winner has remained a top-shelf fantasy closer this year, featuring a 3.02 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 43:12 K:BB in 47 2/3 innings.
