Bobby Witt Jr. Joins Rarefied Air With Homer In Win
2 months agoKansas City Royals infielder Bobby Witt Jr. went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, two runs scored, and a walk in Friday's 12-5 victory over the New York Yankees. Witt walked and singled before a seventh-inning two-run blast halted whatever rally New York was staging in the face of a nine-run deficit. Not only did the 23-year-old's long ball make him KC's first 30-homer, 30-steal player in franchise history, but he also became the first to ever have 30 bombs, 10 triples, and 45 stolen bases in a single season. Witt has been one of the Royals offense's lone bright spots this year, hitting .275 with 96 RBI, 28 doubles, and 96 runs scored in 633 at-bats on a torrid second half. The former top prospect will probably be a first-round fantasy pick in Year 3.
