Alex Cobb Quiets Orioles For Fifth Win
11 months agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Alex Cobb hurled 7 2/3 scoreless innings of the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. The 35-year-old struck out seven in the 4-0 triumph, handing him his fifth victory of the campaign. Cobb now owns an upgraded 2.71 ERA with 64 punchouts in 69 2/3 innings. The right-hander has been a nice late-round fantasy value for the most part, but his 1.32 WHIP might leave managers feeling just a tad weary of his future prospects. Regardless, Cobb has yielded two runs or fewer in 9-of-12 starts this year. On Thursday, the veteran is slated to take on the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Cobb is somehow 2-0 at that ballpark despite a 6.27 ERA in 18 2/3 career innings in Denver.
