Zack Wheeler Fans 11 Hitters For Eighth Win
9 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler hurled 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball with 11 strikeouts for his eighth win of the season on Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He permitted three hits and one walk in the team's 2-1 victory. Wheeler struck out the first-inning side and recorded six of his 11 punchouts over three spotless opening frames. The right-hander ran into some trouble after giving up a Ji Man Choi RBI double in the fourth, but that acted as the brunt of the damage to his ledger an on otherwise dominant evening. Wheeler fired two more clean innings before coming out after an Endy Rodriguez two-out single during the seventh. The 33-year-old brings a 3.74 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 145:24 K:BB (125 innings) into a scheduled date with the Miami Marlins on Wednesday.
