Yonny Chirinos Shelled For Season-Worst Eight Runs
10 months agoTampa Bay Rays right-handed pitcher Yonny Chirinos threw 5 1/3 innings, giving up eight runs on nine hits and two walks in Saturday's 9-4 loss to the Kansas City Royals. The 29-year-old struck out three batters and took his third loss of the season. Despite being one of Saturday's top streaming options on the slate, Chirinos busted in dramatic fashion in a favorable situation. The soft-tosser holds a large discrepancy between his ERA and xERA this year and the floodgates opened up in this one. Chirinos carries a deceptive 3.91 ERA and 1.14 WHIP considering his dreary 23:16 K:BB over 48 1/3 innings. Fantasy managers might want to think twice before turning to the righty in another seemingly decent spot scheduled against the Seattle Mariners on Friday.
