Tony Gonsolin Earns Fifth Scoreless Start Of 2023
11 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin allowed only two hits and two walks with six strikeouts across six scoreless innings against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. The 29-year-old netted his fourth win of the year in the team's 5-1 victory. It was already Gonsolin's fifth appearance permitting no earned runs and his fourth time doing so over at least five frames. After a late start to 2023 due to an ankle sprain, the 2022 All-Star is picking up right where he left off during his breakout season last year. Gonsolin has an outrageous 24-3 record since 2021 and is quietly establishing himself as one of the more productive starters in baseball. The right-hander bears a concerning 36:18 K:BB, though, to keep an eye one. Gonsolin nonetheless takes a sharp 1.93 ERA and 0.94 WHIP into a date with the hot-hitting San Francisco Giants on Sunday.
