Pete Alonso Clubs 24th Homer In Loss
10 months agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's dramatic 7-6 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. The 28-year-old swatted a Jose Alvarado heater into the opposite-field seats during the seventh inning for his 24th big fly of the season. Alonso's big bat has helped prevent New York's tumultuous season from completely derailing in 2023. After recently missing some time with an injured wrist, the two-time HR Derby champion has fallen behind Matt Olson as the NL home run leader. Even so, Alonso is slashing a powerful .226/.318/.537 with 24 long balls, 55 RBI, and two stolen bases across 292 trips to the plate this year.
