He produced a goal and an assist in the first period to reach 36 power-play points for the season. Only Colorado's Cale Makar (37) has been more productive among defensemen with the man advantage. Hughes' most recent work includes three multi-point efforts in the past four games. 2 months agoVancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller became the seventh player in franchise history to post a 100-point campaign when he finished Monday's 4-3 win over Vegas with three assists. A couple of Jack Eichel goals put the Canucks in an early two-goal hole, but Miller's elite playmaking helped Vancouver to grab the victory in the end. Two of his assists came with the man advantage. Miller, who has registered 35 goals and 65 assists in 78 outings, likely won't settle for 100 points for the season as he enters the final four contests with an eight-game scoring streak.Source: ESPN
2 months agoVancouver Canucks right wing Conor Garland scored twice in Monday's 4-3 victory over the Golden Knights. He hit a power-play goal in the first period to spark a Canucks comeback from a 2-0 deficit and took care of the game-winning goal at the 18:31 mark in the second frame. Garland is finishing off the campaign strongly, having notched 14 of his 42 points since the start of last month. He's had seven goals and seven assists in 16 games over the stretch. 2 months agoVegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel continued his good start to the month with a three-point effort in Monday's 4-3 loss to Vancouver. He scored a couple of early goals and collected an assist, with two points coming on the power play. Eichel has scored in all three April outings, averaging two points per game for the month. The late-scoring spurt has pushed the American star to 63 points (29 goals, 34 assists) with 58 games played. 2 months agoToronto Maple Leafs left wing Matthew Knies bagged his 15th goal of the season as the team snuck past Pittsburgh 3-2 in overtime on Monday night. The 21-year-old has hit top gear near the end of the regular season, scoring in three of his last four appearances and averaging a point per game for the last seven games. Knies has had a couple of bad scoring slumps, but it's still been a decent rookie campaign for him, with 35 points collected in 75 games. 2 months agoToronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews tallied a goal and an assist against the Penguins in Monday's 3-2 overtime win. He scored a power-play goal early in the third period and helped to set up Jake McCabe's game-winning goal 1:30 into the extra frame. Matthews found the back of the net for the 65th time already this season, tying Alex Ovechkin for most goals in a single season by an active player. The Maple Leafs star has scored in each of his last five outings. It's been an extraordinary year for Matthews in front of goal, and it's helped him to register his second 100-point campaign.Source: ESPN

Roslovic has been a healthy scratch at times this season and skated just 8:07 in a 4-3 win over the Red Wings on Friday. Acquired from the Columbus Blue Jacks prior to the March 8 NHL Trade Deadline, the former first-round pick has tallied two goals and seven points in 15 games with the Blueshirts and eight goals and 30 points across 55 games overall on the season. The 21-year-old takes the spot of the injured Rasmus Sandin while Trevor van Riemsdyk will slide over to the left side of the blueline. It's just the fifth game of the 2021 second-round pick's NHL career with one assist through his first four while he has appeared in 60 games with the AHL's Hershey Bears this season, tallying four goals and 14 points in that time. 2 months agoPittsburgh Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic will make his ninth straight start between the pipes when the team takes on the hosting Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday. Nedeljkovic has come out of nowhere to take over starting duties from the struggling Tristan Jarry and is a key reason why the Pens sit just one point back of the Red Wings for the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. The 28-year-old owns a 2.82 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage in 33 games this season but has also posted a 2.50 GAA and a .917 Sv% across four games in the month of April. 2 months agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov is getting the start on Monday when the team hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins. It's the fourth start for Samsonov over the last five games as he has regained his grasp on the No. 1 starter's role from Joseph Woll with the latter largely struggling since returning from a high-ankle sprain on Feb. 29. A winner of his last four outings, Samsonov owns a 3.03 goals-against average and an .893 save percentage in 37 games on the season but is still 22-6-7. He has been far better of late, posting a 2.34 GAA and a .926 save percentage in eight March outings, going 6-1-1 in that time. The veteran underwent surgery on his left knee to clean up loose cartilage and was acquired in a blockbuster trade from the San Jose Sharks just minutes prior to the March 8 NHL trade deadline. The 30-year-old has registered 15 goals and 34 points across 48 games this season, all with the Sharks. He is likely to skate on the left wing of Chandler Stephenson on the team's second line on Monday. The Swede was injured on a hit from Senators forward Parker Kelly on Sunday and did not practice with the team on Monday. "Possible, but we'll see," Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery said in regards to the possibility of Sandin missing the remainder of the regular season. "Definitely not on the road trip, not traveling." The veteran has missed the past four games due to an upper-body injury and said he felt good after practicing on Monday. "In my situation we're going to kind of go day to day, but hopeful that I feel good tomorrow morning," Oshie said. The oft-injured winger is having a down offensive season that has included several injuries, as he has tallied 11 goals and 22 points with 83 shots on goal across just 47 games. 2 months agoVancouver Canucks goaltender Arturs Silovs was the first goaltender off the ice in the team's morning skate on Monday, suggesting he will be the starter for this evening's game against the visiting Vegas Golden Knights. Silovs and Casey DeSmith have been alternating starts of late with Thatcher Demko sidelined but Silovs has been the superior of the two as DeSmith has taken a 6-3 loss in each of his last two outings while Silovs has allowed just three goals while winning each of his last two. He has posted a 1.50 goals-against average and a tidy .930 save percentage in his two NHL games this season after working to a 2.74 GAA and a .907 save percentage in 33 outings with AHL Abbotsford.Source: Thomas Drance
2 months agoDetroit Red Wings goaltender Ville Husso (lower body) has been loaded to the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins for a conditioning stint. The 29-year-old has been limited to just 19 games with the Red Wings this season due to lower-body injuries. He suffered an original lower-body injury in a Dec. 18 contest against the Ducks, forcing him out until Feb. 13. However, he left that game against the Oilers after just 8:48 due to an aggravation of the ailment and hasn't appeared in a game since. The former St. Louis Blues netminder struggled to a 3.55 goals-against average and an .892 save percentage in the NHL this season while Alex Lyon has taken over the crease in Husso's absence.Source: Detroit Red Wings
